Re: Recent WestJet ALPA video for all pilots
Waiting for McKinley to be toasted and put on the “not in my jump seat” list Statistically you’re more likely to die in a vehicle crash than an airline crash. So by that logic pay the truckers and everyone who drives cars more than pilots in the name of safety. I can't decide if you guys are trolls...

Re: Recent WestJet ALPA video for all pilots
I haven’t heard one solid case made for higher pay by Alpa. What value do you bring? What skills do you bring? What are risks of your job? What are your responsibilities? [/quote] You'll make the same joining WestJet with 10k hours on type and thus reduce the risk you mentioned. If WestJet doesn't v...

Re: Don't be a scab
Pilots have already proven they don't have the public's support on this one given their outlandish demands. Public support is meaningless. Rows of parked airplanes is all that matters. And they can remain parked until pilots are payed appropriately. Airplanes are bought in US dollars with no discou...

Re: New hire thoughts
Thanks for the reply. I don't care about the pension because I have alternative investments but I have declined the interview. Starting pay is just too low for experienced individuals.

New hire thoughts
Starting AC at 42. Thoughts?
Re: One List
I love when mainline pilots talk about the entitlement of Encore pilots. When they got hired they were told by company, their mainline peers, etc... That there was a one list and that after a few years they will flow to mainline with their seniority attached to it. Back then it was the only way to ...
Re: One List
What's the percentage of pilots that completed the survey? Can we get some surveys going on for other issues we don't like? Were these surveys completely anonymous? I'm asking because I did not complete a survey and I was under the impression that a vote was a vote.
Re: One List
The one list was voted down by the group. Is it not the unions job to move in the direction that the group voted for? Was the vote just for show? If the union can't support the group on this issue how will they support on other issues? Keep the guys already on the list there. No more moving forward....

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO
The commute to yyz isn't too bad. Lots of people do it. Don't bid deadheads unless you are prepared to occasionly deadhead to Costa Rica and fly back home. With bidding schedules you can play around with check in check out times to make it more commutable but you will still need a few hotels in yyz ...

Re: Reserve
So if one was to change bases now can they expect future reserve or is that part of the contract not implemented yet?
Reserve
For those of you holding reserve...what does that look like typically?
Re: One list
How can there be a one list for two separate companies. Unions are paid to protect their members. A one list does not do that. It's awful how this has all gone down but I just don't see how this could ever survive without at least the common employer status. Not everyone who voted no cared about the...
Re: One list
Now that Westjet is selling...not sure a one list is in our best interest. Who knows what the plans are.
Re: One list
Encore should have never been made a separate company. The union certainly makes things more complicated. It's also not just OTS pilots voting no. There are previous Encore pilots who are very unhappy that they put in their time and never got their top up pay.
Re: One list
Sorry, this is a long trend... has it been answered if a no vote will effect past encore pilots?

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
If someone applied last year and received no responses went in to check their application only to find that they accidentally checked the not legally entitled to work in Canada box
is updating the application good enough or should they withdrawal and reapply.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
No interview for me... I have a few years in at the other major airline. No degree.
