Re: Pilots in waiting NWAL Post
Now getting back to my initial observation of the IATRA requirement with 6 months remaining it seems an awful lot of messing around to let it expire and maybe, just maybe get a flying job at 18 months. A better suggestion may be to hire for the ramp and ramp only and then hire Pilots when needed who...

Pilots in waiting NWAL Post
Just noticed the ad in the employment forum. One of the requirements is IATRA written with at least 6 months left before it expires. This actually expires after 2 years but yet they indicate a wait time of 18 months plus to get to the flight line, does not make a lot of sense to ask for this.

Re: Are there current Oppertunities in Asia/Africa?
Probably not, I had a job offer in Mozambique last March and the Visa was pulled before I even travelled, I do however have a fancy stamp in my passport.

Re: Has anybody given up?
I do believe that this will take some time. The vaccine is on its way and of course it will take time to get divided among the masses, the elderly and those with other health issues first before I expect. People will want to travel again but may not be in a position to because of employment uncertai...

Re: 172 down Hope BC ???
I have had students approach me and ask for a Mountain check out and to me that's the blind leading the blind. As much as I would like to I direct them to find someone with a ton of experience and go fly with them. They of course do not have to be Flight Instructor"s.

Re: Coastal Pacific aviation
Go and visit a couple of schools and make your choice after that. Narrow it down to your first couple of choices and maybe even take a flight at each one and go from there. Do not put money on account and let the school know that you will pay after each flight, if you have to argue about this my adv...

I thought the very same thing. Interesting that a vaccine has appeared the very week of a change in Government in the US.

Re: IS ATC Your Best Bud?
My best bud, no. I don't expect them to be. I find them for the most part to be extremely accommodating and professional. No different from Pilots I am sure. My shrink is also not by best bud but he is there to provide a service.

I have been hearing the same thing from a bunch of students. I believe that its just a backlog from limited staff during COVID. Maybe contact your TC regional office and seek advice though you may get the same answer.

Re: The clubhouse.....
Flew out of Fairoaks in Surrey. A great club feel with the old bell still standing. This was used to scramble the Spitfire Pilots during the second world war. Lots of grass strip flying on a weekend though the "class" system definitely existed in aviation with mostly the well off being the...

Re: Steep Turns At Low Altitude
I agree, no real need for anything beyond 30 degrees in the Circuit. I have had situations on gusty days in the circuit where anything more than say 30 degrees in a turn would have been uncomfortable for me at such low altitudes. During initial training if you request a 30 degree banked turn from a ...

Re: Westjet slashes Service to Maritimes
Off topic slightly but I totally agree with that Doctor. Here in Canada we are now blaming bars for the widespread increase among other locations. I have family in Ireland and the bars never opened up since the start of this pandemic.Their lockdown has been one of the strictest in Europe and yet the...

Re: Are FTU's Busy?
I have found it to be a mix. We have a bunch of students who began pre covid when jobs were plentiful who have invested too much and want to now continue in the hopes that things will improve. As someone else pointed out there are also the guys who have wanted to fly as a hobby and they now have a lo...

More times than not I get into the circuit beforehand due to weather issues but get the spins in before the first solo. Spin training not required for the PPL in Europe or the US.
