Re: It is imminent.......be ready.
I get it 100%. But literal translations of comments made by clearly frustrated individuals is just silly. Management makes "similar dramatic comments" that no one takes too seriously. No, I don't think its literal. However I am not HR of a multi billion dollar company that takes their public image ...

Re: Air Canada is Not WestJet
What a stupid thread/topic to be up.
This thread will solve precisely nothing but spool everyone up.
Management (possibly) drops this turd of a post then sits back and laughs at everyone taking the bait.
We’re better than these comments… aren’t we?

Re: 2Tentative2Agreement
I’m sorry, the letter from the Union is embarrassing and should never have been allowed to be sent out. I have no idea how that got approved from ALPA lawyers. Feels like the MEC got scolded by management and are scared to keep negotiating. The company is playing hard ball here, this is business. Th...

Re: TA shot down
Just saw the latest note from PASCO and how the CPA is done October this year. You think management making these kinds of moves is by accident? They wanted Encore pilots to take this garbage deal right before they canceled the CPA with PASCO. They wanted to lock you guys into a garbage contract then...

Re: MEC pay
Wow....after all the bellyaching and whinging and gnashing of teeth about the old MEC, the current MEC decides to pay itself 85 hrs per month (with room to grow maybe up to 98 hrs), to align itself with the ALPA norm...because the MEC work doesn't vary month to month.... the hypocrisy is unbelievab...

Re: TA shot down
Congratulations to the entire Encore pilot group for standing up and recognizing your worth! This was a BS deal, I have no skin in this game but it’s clear to see this was a BS deal. Some fancy accounting magic by the company to make it seem like an “industry leading” contract, when in fact it’s not...

Also curious to know what the general sentiment is on line about this now that the road shows has a chance to explain it.
Is the feeling it’ll be approved? Certainly hope it won’t be, but I’ve got no skin in the game so it’s the cheap seats for me.

Re: Porter vs AC
Speaking from experience, the appeal of flying a big shinny jet fades quite quickly and lifestyle is the thing you start chasing! IMO, if I were in your shoes I’d be staying at Porter. AC management have made it abundantly clear that Porter is a major thorn in their side. It would NOT surprise me if...

Re: Agreement in principle reached.
I’m just a spectator here, but from what I’ve seen and talking with some buddy’s at Encore, this seems to be some fancy accounting work. And not in a good way for the pilot group. The numbers upfront are no doubt bigger, but when you drill down it’s pretty easy to see the overall “raise” isn’t that ...

Re: Is the ACPA Motto: "We will get'em next time" gone?
I’ve been struggling with understanding “why” the company agreed to this mediation piece. It seemed like things were going as per their playbook and they were getting what they wanted, but then agreed to mediation… why? The only thing I can think of is they played their hand too aggressively and too...

Re: Making 200k+ and going to AC for 55k?
Another point to consider is whether or not you already live in a base. Are you in YUL or YYZ already? Not having to commute is an immediate +1 It sounds like there’s some changes to fleet size still being tossed around (WB adds for sure) that could allow for more hiring. A total shot in the dark an...

Ya I think you’re right!
As a flat payer myself, I’m hopeful there’s change coming.

Re: New CA Expectation
It’s a good idea, to re-deploy those aircraft off the lower yield routes and onto more profitable ones. They will funnel more passengers through the three main hubs. I kind of doubt that. Maybe some but a lot will shift over to WestJet. Why take a 12 hour day with a connection to go south on AC vs ...

Re: Pulling out of yyc
I wouldn't put it passed this Management team as another form of employee manipulation. Remove as much flying as you can from YYC by re-deploying the fleet. They may be needed elsewhere, maybe not, but the cost might be equal either way. The YYC "senior bitty's" (65+ crowd) will see it as an incent...

Re: Pulling out of yyc
This seems absolutely crazy to me. Obviously I’m not an executive, but pulling out of the west seems like a mistake. It’s more than pulling out of Calgary as a city, Calgary is WestJet head quarters. WestJet will be primed for steeling as much market share from AC as they can. I fully expect WJ to a...

Re: So Jazz pilots will go from the lowest paid to the lowest paid?
I don’t fly the Q, but I am a trainer and the math on just 10 OT shifts per year is just over 200k, not really working hard at all. Last thing I’ll say on this, if you’re not a Jazz pilot, @#$! off! We set the bar in the past and you fucking assholes tripped over each other to undercut us, we are w...

Re: So Jazz pilots will go from the lowest paid to the lowest paid?
Can someone tell me now $165 hr equals $200k per yr? 1000 hrs times $165 = $165,000 And that's a lot of legs in a Q400!! "Hardly sweating" And can someone tell me how after flying as a professional pilot for 15 yrs, $165k is that amazing Do we value ourselves that little that we think $165k i...

Re: New CA Expectation
So what’s the solution so we can be paid decent wages if AC won’t raise to $100/hr year 1 FO? This is the question that keeps popping up in my mind. The long and the short of it is there is no easy solution. If the border opened up with commuting contracts.....well that would sure change the landsc...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
The Jazz pilots with September conditionals recently got upgraded to formal offers so at least for this group they are definitely following through. How does the seniority draw work for these Jazz Sept hires? I’d their seniority determined in their Sept class? All while OTS hires get job offers aft...

I personally disagree.. Tons of business gets done with in person face to face meetings, people gotta fly to get this done efficiently. Re: Negotiations
This is a big problem at the moment. Lots of senior guys at Jazz are hoping for a merger or something to justify their YOS and commitment to the brand. They don’t want to accept that they may have to walk away from all the years they’ve invested in the airline. I get it, I truly do. Some airlines (W...

Re: Signing bonus of DEC Dash
A gentleman’s bet then, AC acquiring Jazz does nothing to stem the outgoing pilots from leaving, especially if they are not willing to entertain a proper wage increase. A merging has several benefits to AC, it will reduce the costs associated with separate OCs, the pilots are now AC pilots and wage...

WOW, the new pay scales at Porter clearly targeting Jazz and Encore. I certainly hope Jazz can get in-front of this. Sadly, I think Jazz pilots are quickly running out of excuses to stay with team Red. Encore is made up of people who want YYC base and people who had a YYZ base and are holding out u...
