Re: Springbank Airport Noise Committee Needs Your Help
People that complain about noise from aircraft have got to have the most short sighted arguments I've ever read. Do rail companies have the same number of complaints? Highways? Get a life, if you are so stupid to buy a cheaper house outside the city next to a current airport which trains pilots and ...

Re: First Air Crash Resolute Bay August 20 2011
Too bad a missed approach is treated as an occurrence and gets you an entry in CADORS. There are currently over 5500 entries for missed approaches. Agreed. A CADOR should not be issued for a missed approach. It sets the framework out for some approaches to be pushed. Anything that is perceived by a...

Westwind has small twins for the bag runs. Guys get this job with 1000hrs or a little less, no PIC and leave the bag runs with more PIC and Multi-PIC. So yes, taking a job right seat on a KA with 250-500hrs is a very good move. Get the IFR experience you don't get instructing and keep moving up in t...

Re: Navajo door latches.
If these stories are true, I'm amazed! Wow to live through hanging onto a door, just like in the movies. You MUST remember that accident years ago when a cheque-hauling Navaho went missing in BC, was finally found in the bush somewhere but no pilot was in the wreck? They found him 100s of miles from...

Dave, thanks for the reply and the update. That is defiantly good news for WestJet and those of us that want to build our careers with you guys. I'm sure that number of applicants will grow quickly! Maybe there are bonus points on the matrix for having your resume in first? (not serious at all about...

Re: Question regarding pilot recruitment and the new website
Dave, with the new profile and application website, would it be necessary to have your internal referrals re-submit their pilot sponsorship letters? Or would it be alright just to include them as references on the online application? The new site seems alright but still has some shortcomings. Editin...

Yeah its good to know that it will be Captains to start and for a while just so those of us forward looking guys know what to expect for hiring in 6months to a year. Re: Westjetters back Regional Airline 91% say yes
Sometimes I wish the web wasn't anonymous for negative posts. That way when your application ends up in WestJet regional's pile, your name can be seen as the one who had the big remark on Avcanada before ANY facts about the regional could be seen. Guys who jump to conclusions so fast are guys I never...

100 new hires this year? or what time frame? Seems like a lot given there are 1500 or so pilots at Jazz, have all these positions been created by those that have already left for AC/WJ/other carriers or is there something else happening at Jazz that should have potential candidates worried?

Devon is an oil company. Contrail has just become a term to describe the hour requirements set up by a consulting company that no longer exists from what I have heard. The requirements have stuck with most oil and gas companies charter. I can see why whoever charter demands certain hrs for pilots. T...

Find another occupation where you can operate machinery after working for 17hrs, with a "rest period" that you may or may not sleep what so ever and still be safe. It is ignored by operators and law that people may not be able to sleep in abnormal circumstances and be able to fly effectively.

Re: CMA = Cowboys Mangle Airplanes
Generalizing the pilots of a company and there actions is so immature. For some reason in this industry if something is observed involving a company, suddenly everyone working there is branded the same. It really takes the professionalism out of being a pilot if you see something and have to post it...

Re: Xwind for students, when ?
Hedley, your techniques described are simple and will get the job done. Aileron input in and after the flare is the key to keeping aligned with the centerline. Crosswinds are one of the most challanging things we do with an airplane, because they vary so much. Using these techniques will give a stud...
