Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

By delaying the equipment bid would not stop CCAA. Jazz is a creditor to Air Canada, so if Big Red goes to file with the courts Jazz goes also. Saw it in early 2000. Flyer The trick is not to go bankrupt prior to AC. If Chorus goes bankrupt prior to AC then it fails in its obligated contract (CPA)....

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

I wonder if the 70 downgrades of current pilots will be reduced to account for the 20 taking the early retirement package at the end of the year as well as several more hitting 65? That would bring the downgrades to about 40-45. 26 retiring at the end of 2020 and I doubt it. Essentially they will b...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

The terms have changed:

Before it was NO MORE than 675 laid off
now it is NO LESS than 635 Active Pilots (not including training pilots, LTD, STD, MAT, LOA etc)

So essentially as retirements or attrition happen they will have to recall more pilots & when flying increases they will have to recall.

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

Of the 675 pilots placed on inactive status, i was roughly #500. Had 2 and a half years with jazz. Now if i were offered a corporate gig with good pay and all, but a 2 year bond, should i take it? Or do you think ill get called back within 2 years?? I would 100% take the job as we have no clue how ...

Re: New normal for those still left

It really depends on type and base. YVR Q is flying quite a bit, lots of single days, but the multi days are coming back. DH8 YYC is very slow as is the RJ, but every month is a little different. Loads seem to be coming back to 50-90% depending on route. Whenever I am dead heading I see 1-10 CONS on...

Re: 220 Pilots, what are you thoughts so far??

Just as a passenger I wasn't super impressed. The lavs at the back make no sense and it's loud as a passenger. Really looks like a beefed up modern CRJ900. Really first world problems, but honestly I expected a little better from the C-Series. I'm sure its a great performer and I would love to drive...

Is there a breakdown someplace online to reference ?
No Owned vs leased but https://www.airfleets.net/flottecie/Jazz%20Air.htm

Not very accurate as we currently have ZERO DH8-100 still operating for Jazz.

McKinley wrote: Fri Jun 12, 2020 4:52 pm What indication is there that recalls may begin soon? ( I certainly hope you are correct)

My understanding is that more layoffs could be occurring after Aug 30.. and at this point there would have been more layoffs had alpa not tried to mitigate them.
No more layoffs until Sept 1, 2020

Re: Equipment bid

I would certainly hope so! Hard to say to 675 pilots that it’s too expensive to keep them on CEWS and then keep paying captains their regular wage to sit in the right seat. I wouldn't expect to see an equipment bid until Sept 2020. ALPA is working hard to keep everyone on CEWS, will have to wait an...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

Any updated opinions on when hiring will start back up. It's going to be a while I would guess. Jazz currently has 675 pilots "inactive" which all need to come back on the property before Jazz will "hire" again. Also the only reason Jazz was really hiring was due to the shortage at AC which has now...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

I would take the employment, there has been no increase in air travel and so until that happens we are currently over staffed even with the pilots we do have "active". I would expect more layoffs come July 1, 2020 if there is no minor increase in flying by July. Just be honest with your new employer...

Re: Is the 4 year flat pay worth it?

Well at least the first 4 posts were helpful   To be honest, you'll need a bit of time prior to even applying to Jazz (they're hiring around 800-1500TT + Multi), and then if you're successful at Jazz there are 600+ pilots at Jazz waiting to go to AC who are by seniority going to go first....

Re: New hire bids

Any guesses if they would offer those in the Match 30th Gs a new start day when that time came? To be honest it will all depend on how long this takes to get "back to normal". Will depend on how long the recalls take, but honestly likely everyone in the pool will possibly have to re-apply if this l...

What’s the deal then? They keep their seniority number, get furlough and their initial GS is to be completed on the callback?
Basically, a seniority number, 10 years of recall rights and then when they are recalled they will finish their initial training.

Re: Classic Dash replacement??

With COVID, can we expect 100% of the -100 to retire quicker than by the end of the year? 4 of the 6 have just been ferried to YYB over the last 3 days. The last two should be going to YYB this week and a few 300's will be sent out to YYC. (YYB where they will go to Voyageur and be parted out or st...

I wish the LIB govt would offer something like directly to airlines. This 75% wage subsidies is a mystery to the airlines up here it seems.

January 2017 is the magic date here. I got my notice which wasn’t unexpected at all Good luck to everyone affected by this.
