Any news on how many Jazz needs to layoff?
Initial numbers say 550 pilots before mitigations. That being said if provincial borders close then I expect to see that number jump much much higher. Unprecedented times ahead.

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

April flying bid pack is out. From what it looks like every type at every base is 80-87.5 block hours a month.

This schedule was built early March.....so who knows how long this last but the flying has “increased” for Jazz.

Re: Corona Virus

AC just put everyone who sked for HK on reassignment. ICN and TPE likely to follow. Not surprising, expecting to see more international travel suspended. I sure hope Calin has been smart with the record profits AC's been making the last couple years. We did get an email a few days ago with him basi...

Re: Corona Virus

Flew from the West Coast to Buenos Aires through YYZ Thursday-Friday. Plane was maybe 1/3 full. The thing that struck me was the level of screening in Argentina. Debarked one pax at a time. Initial screening on the jetway at the cabin door and then there was a whole crew in hazmat gear for another ...

Re: Could this be the pin to pop the housing bubble?

It will all depend on how dramatic the containments get (provincial/city quarantines and business closures like Italy) and for the duration of how long this last. The low interest rates + relaxation of the mortgage stress test in April could lead to a sellers market and give a huge bump to house pri...

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

Scheduled are 2x GS in April, 2x GS in May. This was recently planned, but things do have a way of changing quickly depending on what kind of travel restrictions and group gathering restrictions are put in place. If travel inside of Canada is curtailed or stopped well then you've got your answer. Fo...

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

March 16 and March 30 GSs are still going ahead with 20 OTS pilots in each. All GGN pilots are through. When I hear of more GS I’ll post or whatever news I get about the future of hiring. Our April Schedule was delayed due to AC making changes to service so that will be a good indication of what the...

Re: New hire bids

Sorry, slightly off topic. But just wondering, I am at this link https://flyjazz.ca/en/careers/pilots/pilot-recruitment/ And it mentions that total compensation for first year FO can be more than $60,000. Just wondering if this is accurate, or how it would be possible. I’m new to the 705 world, and...

The 900 vacancies aren't driven largely by expansion but by current shortfalls, retirements and new duty regs.
And 37 more 737Max which may not be coming any longer

Re: New hire bids

Anyone care to guess that, if there ends up being a hiring freeze at AC soon, will Jazz still continue to hire to at least fill in the vacancies from the January bid ? Sadly the vacancies in the JAN bid are because of flow to AC. They have a guesstimate of how many Jazz pilots will need to flow to ...

Re: New hire bids

If big red stops hiring these might be the last groundschools for a while. Only a handful of retirements at Jazz this year. Just going to have to wait and see what their April bid shows. Lots of rumours flying around, but will have to wait and see. AC retirements are still happening at a high rate,...

Any insight of what will be available (base and type) for the 16th and 30th? Thanks
The company only chooses what will be available right before you start, not even ALPA knows what is coming up in the next GS. Its always a crap shoot, so just cross your fingers and have many contingencies.

Re: Classic Dash replacement??

How much longer will Jazz keep the -100s flying out west...anyone got an update ? All -100s will be gone from Jazz by May 1st. -300s moving west to replace the -100s. Are they planning to close the eastern bases for the classic? Not sure, but highly highly doubt it. The YYC Base is a small DH8 base...

What leaves AC first, the 30 year old 767's or the 32 year old -100's
You'll see the DH8-100's gone before the 767 for sure. The 767 is doing a great job adding lift to the routes effected by the 737MAX issue.

Re: Classic Dash replacement??

How much longer will Jazz keep the -100s flying out west...anyone got an update ? Heard two conflicting rumours (which is all I hear), that the 100's will stay in YYC until Dec 2020, the second rumour is they will be phased out by Summer 2020 and 300's returning to YYC. Regardless 300's will be com...
