Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

Kenora. All tongue in cheek(from me) commentary and speaking as a well seasoned traveller mostly on the East side, I would much, much rather be in a DHC8-100/200/200 Q4 than a BE1900 by a long shot. I speak strictly from a pax comfort prospective as those 1900s are terrible. One miserable memorable...

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

KenoraPilot :) You're so kind toward the Dash Trash. Good on you for having a positive outlook on it. ;) I did not like Dash 8 and I'm glad I'm not on it anymore. It may have been a technological "marvel" at one point in the 1600s, sorry I mean the 80s, but it has long outlived its welcome (in my o...

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

Jazz is completing the life extension program on the Dash 8-300 fleet as we speak. I would expect to see the DH8 in Jazz colours until at least 2025 if not beyond hopefully. Well ”eff” that, in order to get my propeller fix I am gonna book all my travel with Encore not on those leaky/creaky elderly...

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

Nov tends to be a slow month and same with the winter for the Dash 8 as well as Jazz. Being over staffed on the 8 hasn’t helped. 14 captains, 6 FO on rsv in YYC with 100h of time Bank offered in Nov.

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

Doesn't need to be the crazy huge old school flight bag since the ipad mini carries all your charts etc. So you drag around an iPad, pad of paper, pens and your PTR. That's about it really. No major flight bag required. For the flight line I use a tumi laptop bag that fits my headset, sunglasses, iP...

Re: New hire bids

Yes there was an October 1st class. 8 I believe and all RJ and Q. Not sure where.
There will be a Nov and December class from what I've heard. As for next year sounds like 150-200 pilots to be hired. Rough estimate based on attrition to AC.

Re: Hiring(again)?

I know a class of 14-20 until Dec 2018 for 100%, into 2019 couldn't tell you. But it looks as if AC is taking from all the express carries again. Looks like 11 Jazz pilots in the Oct 2 PIT course at AC. Hey Kenora you usually know the answer to this, is November full yet? I don't know for 100% sorry!

Re: PML Portal

One shocking thing I heard the other day was someone at Jazz not realizing there was a divide between the new and old pay scale pilots. That kinda blew me away a little bit that some people don't recognize there is a divide amongst the pilots.......maybe that was me being naive. :(

Re: PML Portal

For myself I live and luckily work in Alberta for Jazz which is uniquely situated as AC doesn't have anything in AB. The thought of commuting for the rest of my life and 4 years of crap starting pay at AC when I just had my first child?!?! Currently I don't make a ton as a Captain but its very livab...

Fight with? Unlikely. Lots of us B scalers that have zero interest or have turned AC down already (myself included).
Just wondering why you'd turn down AC?
For myself its all about life style

Re: PML Portal

I don't think anyone gets a guaranteed interview after PML 2..throw your name in the portal and see what happens. AC claims its still the best way to get in. In my opinion there is a very long line up of GGN SKY and B scale jazz pilots your going to have to fight with for a shot at AC through the p...

Re: PML Portal

What is the guarantee you’re claiming? I’ve been at Jazz for 3 years, have had no interview, and have had no communication on when to expect one. The guaranteed interview seems to be something created by hopeful candidates, but never anything I’ve ever heard Jazz or Air Canada commit to. I think he...

Re: PML Portal

Is it all bad news for B scale? Doesn’t sound like there’s a PML, low wages, and slower upgrades with the LOA? I think AVCan readers need to remember most people on here that talk about the current PML not working are either not at Express or didn't make it through the process. One would have to as...

Re: Reductions for YVR DH8?

No Reductions at least hopefully for another 6 months ish :) :) :) As long as AC starts taking pilots again, even with a planned increase in block hours, we are still above the baseline requirements. That being said, we’re still hiring, I think partly because if we don’t hire them somebody will. Co...

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

They do hire experienced applicants 58 King Air experienced? Hmmm it’s a long shot with only King Air time. I’d suggest going out and buying yourself a Dash-8 typerating. If you have the cash book an RJ sim for better chances. Checkout CAE or Flightsafety. If you're gonna go that route, just book t...

Good Luck on the hiring process! Jazz is a lovely place to work!
No luck so far.
Why doesn't Jazz hire experienced applicants?

Well they did hire me (I have some experience)
