Re: Commuting at Jazz

there are a few pilots commuting from YLW to YVR on the Q. It’s possible but it will all depend on your seniority and your monthly schedules etc. Almost any commute is possible, it just takes time and money to do it (crash pad, flights, public transit etc).

Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours

Not really a rumour. The -100s are going west to do the ex B1900 routes like Lethbridge and Red Deer and of course Cancelgar which the Q400 can’t do. The 100s are doing YQL, YXH, YCG etc. Red Deer was terminated a year + ago. The Q400 can for sure do YCG, will just depend if Jazz/AC wants to do tha...

Re: New hire bids

So a new pilot at Jazz, for the foreseeable future, would likely be looking at a western base ? And a hard time bidding back out east to YYZ? It’s all going to depend on what type you get. Q400 will have a tough time getting to yyz as the Q base is shrinking. If you get DH8 or RJ you could get to Y...

I really enjoyed my time at VAL, but I was in my early 20's and didn't have debt or a family in Canada.

You wouldn't happen to know roughly what time of the month the ground schools are in November?
Basically every two weeks is my guess

Re: Reference Checks

Just curious, when a potential employer does a reference check what kinds of questions do they ask to your past supervisors? Could be anything. If you have something to hide best to figure out how to clear it up with your past employer or explain it in the interview....or even better yet leave that...

Re: Ground school soon, what should I know?

Thank you very much for all the quick answers! It is super appreciated! How can I have access to compagny policies before hand, business casual is a very broad term, and except the no-jeans one specified in the acceptance email, are there any colour or otherwise restriction to it? Do we get the Ipa...

Re: Upgrade Times and Pension

Hi Guys. I was wondering what upgrade times where looking like. For background I have my ATPL and 1000 hrs on Dash 8-100s. Also, what is Jazz’s pension plan like? Pension is a DC type. You put in $$$, the company puts in a little $$$$ and at the end you take it home and hopefully the investment fun...

Re: Ground school soon, what should I know?

How long does it take to complete training at Jazz from Day 1 of GS to the sim ride ? And where does it all take place YYZ or YVR or ?? Depends on training availability. I've heard of guys having 2-3 weeks off between IPT/Initial Company Training and then SIM training. I'd say if you have no hold u...

Re: Ground school soon, what should I know?

We have transitioned to an EFB (electronic flight bag) via an iPad mini. All the manuals and publications are now loaded to it. As far as flight bags go, there are may options, ranging from some of the satchels/etc you can get at walmart/staples up to nice professional leather pilot cases. All depe...

Re: August Equip Bid

How many yyc skipper spots you think will be available? Would be nice to get a heads up in advance from the company. I don't know but I doubt a ton. Likely you'll see lots in YYZ and YVR. YYC has been trending towards baseline since Jan 2019 bid. Not sure if they will bump those numbers back up aga...

Re: August Equip Bid

Lots of GGN pilots that were awarded positions in the January bid no longer work for GGN. Hence, they have no transfer rights to Jazz and these positions will have to be filled. Apparently using backfill vs a systemwide Position Bid. My guess is that neither Jazz nor ALPA have a clue who still work...

Re: August Equip Bid

Next equipment/position bid Jan 2020.
Lots of backfills though the way it sounds. The backfills will be done next week from the ESB. Sounds like quite a few CA and FO positions available.
Also GGN Pilots from MOS4 are to begin training in October
Expecting Jan 2020 bid to be "large & expansive"
