Hence why I've applied at many other airlines. As soon as people realize there's a big world out there and are willing to leave what used to be an amazing county, the sooner you'll be paid what you're worth.
Good Luck! I hope you are offered a position fitting your skill and experience soon!

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

I've heard rumblings that they may or may not hold a july GS.....they are waffling. But 100% there will be September. (or as good as my guess is)

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

We are over stocked as compared to last year. Last summer was rough for the company with so many cancellations so this year they are "well over stocked". We'll see what happens with the LOA's........possibly see LBW and RTB's instead? Next couple months over summer will be interesting

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

From my understanding (which could always be incorrect) there will not be a July GS and possibly no Aug GS for Jazz coming up. Hiring will start again in the fall.

Re: Captain/Training Captain Pay?

I'd have to say if you've been hired in the last few months I would expect a slightly longer upgrade time than what's been experienced over the past 2-3 years. The hiring at AC has slowed down in regards to Jazz pilots and currently AC has gone on summer break for the GS. I'd expect upgrades to slow...

Re: New hire bids

Out of curiosity, how do the 4 Jazz pilot bases break down in terms of # of pilots at each ? And which bases have the largest # of RJs, or Q400s or Dash Classics at each ? All numbers subject to change as base movement, upgrades & reductions are still on going from the Jan 2018 Bid: Planes and # of...

Just had CRM and the CP for "west" was in our class and informed us that the hiring outlooks have dropped a bit down to a forecast of 200 for 2018. But no mention of "halting"

Re: Bargaining idea
Not achievable at all. What you do is a commodity. You provide regional lift. Do it cheaper and you win. Or. They win. But that is the game.
What do you do? Since clearly you're not a Jazz employee..... Plus that is a very sad way to look at the issues.....it may be the correct way...

Re: Bargaining idea

I always wondered this. What is the “classic airline”? The classic airline was (from what I understand) an attempt by the company to spin off the DH8 classics into its own airline (kinda like rouge and swoop). In an attempt to make it another division with cheaper labour. What ended up happening wa...

Re: Bargaining idea

Those who want to flow through to AC go to WJE. Clearly they're being hired quite quickly and then you can stop complaining about how horrible it is a Jazz. We here at Jazz at least have a contract......the world is what it is.....not what we want it to be. (Sure we can change it with time, but its ...

Re: New hire bids

The DH8 in YYC for FO is around 2-6mths depending on the movement. Captain I believe the most junior DH8 YYC is around 12-15mths.

Re: Captain requirements?

I waited 20months from date of hire to hold YYC Captain on the DH8. ATPL 6500+TT when hired.
YUL captains are pretty quick these days. Most Junior DH8 Captain in YYC is around 1.5 years by the month of training.

Re: New hire bids

Hello, I have a couple questions about the new hire bids. What equipment is generally most popular, and chosen by the guys with the 1st pick? CRJ, Q400, or Dash? If you're the last person to chose and all that is left is the CRJ, but you don't want to fly on the CRJ is there any way of getting out ...

Re: New hire bids

Hans, we all worked hard to get where we did. You and I had similar paths it seems through the slog and shit to get here. I guess what I mean is Jazz is a job & opportunity people have killed for for years. It seems like a route to get to Air Canada, and maybe not. All I'm saying is we'll never stop...

Re: New hire bids

Funny to think anyone with any time or experience in aviation thought they were getting something for free and/or a guarantee. I've been flying for 15 years and not once has anything been "given to me". The con/disappointment each of you are feeling is the fact you "believed" you were for sure getti...

Re: New hire bids

Heard they revised the hiring numbers for 2018 to 140-190 pilots down from 400. (from two sources)
and looks like we are "overstaffed" over the baseline for the first time on this last bid.

Re: Bose QC25 ANC headset

I have it and I quite like it! The BOSE QC25 first one failed in one ear (returned to Bose for a warranty replacement) The new one is working great. The uflymike portion is awesome. Its light, easy on the batteries and great noise cancelling. I'm quite happy.

Re: Captain requirements?

Ok so one guestion for you guys... You are next in line for left seat on a prop at Jazz, have descent seniority and pre 2015 pay....so you stay or take the FO position with a charter airline in Canada waiting for an upgrade for 2-4 yrs? And of course starting back at 0 seniority and pay that is les...

Re: Captain requirements?

. Training is really quite good :) The training is indeed top notch. That said, one has to put in effort in preparing and learning. The number of failures largely stems from those who think they'll be taught, or think they already know it all, which shows they are not ready for the left seat. There...

An ATPL and a heart beat......and pass the training lol. Training is really quite good :) I felt pretty solidly prepared, however, I also stayed on the same type from FO to Captain and that was a huge help.
