Re: Summer Ground School

From the mouth of the chief pilot east, the company has plenty (too many) low timer FOs. Focus is now on more experienced FOs with the **potential** to upgrade quickly. Even if that means not filling groundschools to capacity. There is no guarantee anyone will upgrade, but hiring people with 703-704...

Re: Helicopter hours towards regional (Encore / Jazz)?

I have flown with new-hires helicopter pilots doing line indoc at Jazz on multiple occasions. I don't beleive any of them had fixed wing hours beyond what is required for licencing. To quote a chief pilot, "once at the interview, they just have to explain and defend their experience".

Re: New hire bids

Is this true for the Q as well? YVR would definitely be tight on an FO salary with the COL, but would be maybe be worth it if an upgrade was quick. Which bases/equip generally have the lowest upgrades? YYZ Q400? Looking at the seniority list it seems that YYC Q is the most senior Q base in the syst...

Re: Negotiations

Full disclosure, I'm a 15 year jazz pilot, was seriously considering Porter, even had an interview booked. For family reasons, among other things I had decided to stay before this announcement. It is a democratic process and everyone must vote as per their personal convictions and interests. That be...

If this deal doesn't fix the problem it will have to be addressed again later. Why not collect the money while they observe wether the problem is fixed or not?

Re: Negotiations

They don’t seem to be doing very many upgrades on the Embraer lately. Maybe they got tired of doing initials on Porters behalf? There's no one left to upgrade.. that's false. they had plenty but seniority made it that 25 years old captain who used to fly val d'or and rouyn were better tha...

No, I'm not advocating anything. If you learned to read you would I understand I did not type a single word about any of that bullshit your so fond to confront about. Medical apartheid??!?

You're seriously comparing the requirement to get a vaccine to 40 years+ of racial segregation?

Re: MPIC time or move on? What's next?

Good Day Everyone, I am new here and this question might have been asked already, my apologies if so. I've been a 703/704 FO on a Multi-Turbo prop for about 8 month now. Started out of ramp in the middle of nowhere just like the old days. I am about to reach 1000TT soon. I've got an Aviation degree...

About the PICUS program I'd like to advise not to bank on it. To log PICUS you have to be flying with a LTC; right now most LTCs are flying full line indoc lines, have been for the last 6 months+ and most likely will be for the foreseeable future. And if you are lucky enough to land a pairing with ...

Re: Jazz Experience

Jazz requires 250 multi time minimum for non college/pathway applicants. If you don't have that your name will not show up in the system for interview calls. Explanation was rate of failure is higher (don't know numbers) for candidates with low multi time, therefore higher cost for the company hence...

I know for a fact the main requirements are 500 multi and A's. And sometimes they'll ask for only iatra when the bank of applications gets thinner.

There is a new profit sharing program; details elude me, but I beleive it was said its structure would be similar to how management bonuses were calculated. As for share, there has been an Employee Share Ownership Program (ESOP) for a long time already, taken off your pay and the company matches a p...

Re: Jazz GS with under 1500 hrs TT

I generaly don't like to play the devil's advocate, but remember that from a company's point of view this is business. They'll try to go as low as they can and anybody would do the same in this offer/demand market for pilots. Couple of things: By offering these wages they are (imo) probably aiming t...

Because you know what the market was in 2005 in the province of Quebec? @ Ypilot, I don't deny the fact the annual starting wage is low, and qualifying for a mortgage with that kind of salary is a challenge; however I did manage to buy my first house with 42k on the paperwork as the sole income earn...

Trust me I will never regret it.... This industry hasn't completely erased my self-worth and respect , there's no way I'm takin 34.5K a year to practise my profession and just to sit there for 5 years then go over to mainline to start all over again (maybe even for less $$ by that time)!
