Re: DEC Questions
I remember a time when the DEC's who parachuted in and took upgrades away from FO's wanted separate seniority lists so that when the FO's did upgrade, they'd maintain their seniority over them. Spearheaded by the Cathay fellas no doubt. As if being widebody captains making bank wasn't enough for th...

Re: Air Canada Captain didn't have required license
Do you really change a system that issues tens of thousands of stickers per year for one case of fraud/forgery? Better still to focus on improving turn times for processing and on-line access and real-time verification of credentials. You're not changing it for one case of fraud. you're changing it...

Re: Air Canada Captain didn't have required license
Just get rid of the sticker books. They aren't any more safe than the old paper licenses. It would be a lot harder to forge an FAA style pilot license with a magnetic stripe on the back. I don't know if there's any security measures on the actual sticker portion, but I doubt it would be difficult to...

Isn't it 50% better than what they had?
Want to wager how many current FO's get upgraded in the next two years at Flair? I'd say it's a pretty outsized benefit given how many people may actually take advantage of it during this contract.

Re: Flair Pilots Better Starting & Top End Pay Now?!
Don't forget that pay is only a small part of the total compensation package. One day all you young guys will want to retire and you certainly won't be doing it on Flair's Pension. It's far better in this round but still probably one of the lowest matching plans out there. It still starts at a 100% ...

Re: Flair Negots 2026
Heard they are in Conciliation and looking for WJ 737 rates. Anyone know how it is going? Be great to see them beat us for some true pattern bargaining without concessions like the Air Canada negots team. Air Canada was looking for Delta's pay and settled for something different. No one knows what ...

Flair doesn't own a single thing. Not. One. Asset. I'm pretty sure they lease the pens and notepads in the office. The amount of debt Flair has would make your eyes water and The new CEO is handing out VP positions like he's Opra (you're a VP, you're a VP, everybody's a VP!). If Westjet wants more t...

Let's not forget that our contract expires in December. Right on schedule, 6 months out, suddenly the company starts struggling. At the last town hall meeting, everything was awesome. At the first town hall after the new contract gets ratified, we will again be doing so awesome all the newly minted ...

Re: When Albert separate, will it keep Canadian licensing or go the FAA route?
Last week I heard that 35% of Albertans want to separate. It was as high as 49% in the late 1980's. You've got a long way to go to convince 25% of the province to support this.
I'm not saying it couldn't happen. One more gun confiscation program might do it.

There is some new legislation that requires employers to post salaries. I can't remember if it applies to federally regulated employees or if it applies to business located in specific provinces. I don't know if you have to advertise a salary if you're advertising overseas for Temporary Foreign Work...

Oh shit, this should be good. What does Flair's management think Porter is failing at? Have they hired Realitychex to 'consult'? How exactly would that be a disaster? We're already doing it.
Sticking with our industry - let the Americans come up here and work for the shitty 703 companies - as long as we can work for a major like Delta. The economic disaster would be not knowing how to spend all of your extra savings.

I can work for a US Major, get paid more absolute dollars in a much stronger currency, pay far less taxes, keep my guns and get rid of Trudeau? My info is a few years old now. Good news is that last time I looked, Pilots were on the immigration list as skilled applicants to go to the front of the line. If you have enough points to immigrate and you don't have a family to immigrate with you, it's not so bad. It was a little pricy if you are ...

The public didn't abandon self driving cars after the first accident. While single pilot planes might seem inevitable, aviation moves slowly and airframes are designed to last a lot longer than your average car. You have to remember how long it takes to design and build a new airplane. Boeing starte...

Air Canada. For the simple fact you will have the highest job security in Canada. And multiple fleet types. Between AC and WJ, Both are gonna have you start on reserve so QOL is a wash between the 2. The way Boeing is going, WJ growth is non existent for the foreseeable future. Great company howeve...

Zero chances the bloc or the ndp triggers an election over a pilot contract/force arbitration/return to work. Your typical voter will be spammed in the MSM about stories how pilot only work 10 days/80hrs a month, and make 300K a year and are responsible for impacting the Canadian economy because th...
