Re: TUI style
This is a fairly simple concept. 2 a/c and crew go to OZ for months during their busy season and the same occurs in reverse. It actually allows both airlines to carry slightly more aircraft (and therefore crew) then they would otherwise as the business would not permit them to carry that level of s...

Re: TA Passed
Let’s take a step back. First of all it’s not our job to be the leaders or the flag bearers of the pilot industry. That is something that occurs across the industry and across companies. Air Canada and WJ have been around for a long time, have mature contracts and, even then, those pilots certainly ...

Re: TA Passed
Well that was that. Congrats to the second lowest paid group of 737 pilots in Canada after Swoop! *slow clap* Thanks for setting the bar high. Regional FOs in US continue to make more than you. https://psaairlines.com/pilot-wage-calculator/ Says the guy who less than a year ago was a 2700 hour 'sta...

Re: Foreign DEC
[ The Americans don't want us going to work there for the same reason we shouldn't want foreign nationals coming here. Having a pool of cheap labour from outside the country drives down wages by decreasing demand for local, experienced pilots. This is not a good thing for the pilot group in Canada, ...

Re: Recruiting and Retention Bonus
Rumour is 0%. Maybe I'm wrong...I hope that I'm wrong. This is the only rumour out there regarding FO pay. I hope it is incorrect given that inflation just took away 10% of the take-home pay. Why don’t we all just come back in 3 years and ask if the deal worked out . I’m thinking lots of those...

MyIDTravel is being launched as fast as they are able to get it up an running since it needs to connect into teh reservation system. It is already used for jumpseat travel.

Re: Recruiting and Retention Bonus
I’m sorry but like most things in Canadian aviation, this retention bonus is a joke. Even with the bonuses counted yearly on top of flair salaries, this is still one of the lowest paying 737 jobs in Canada. Not to mention, you won’t see that money for 3 years only to then pay massive taxes on it. B...

Re: What's Your Opinion on Flair?
Can anybody comment on the recent new hires signing for DEC but showing up for groundschool and being told they have to a wait a year or longer as FOs at FO pay? Hearsay methinks. Any FO on the property at the moment who has the tome to upgrade can apply and I know there are DEC's currently. So if ...

Re: Recruiting and Retention Bonus
This retention bonus basically covers inflation, but you only get it if you stay. Of course this was all pointed out to me, and yes something is better than nothing. Anyways this is just a corrot being dangled. If flair wanted to give something for the hard work this summer why not give it to them ...

Re: Flair Hiring B737 FO's
phukit, looking at your posting history you are clearly fairly inexperienced and have a bone to pick across the industry. Which bases Flair is hiring for does change and if in doubt simply ask! At the same time with the same time, based on growth, any pilot that is based 'away from home' will quickl...

Re: New Flair Staff Travel
The 8 ONE way passes (4 returns essentially) are positive space and can be utilized by your nominees (essentially family for most people) and ALSO by the buddies that you set up in the system. This goes well beyond most airlines (similar to what JetBlue permits).

No- asked HR. Those confirmed passes can also be given to 'buddies' up to the yearly limit. Excellent perk.

Announcement has been made that MYIDtravel is being implemented so that should mean that JS travel will be booked through that system.
The contact negotiations did not start until January because we moved from Unifor to ALPA and that took some time.

Re: Sunwing hiring update
With 6 bases the available Captain positions may be in a specific base only. For example, YKF has openings for Captains and all eligible FO's may bid for that position at that base. If they do not then the company will advertise for DECs.

Flair Hiring
With the pullback announced yesterday by WJ if you are at Encore or Sunwing you may want to consider a growing company with multiple bases. Rapidly growing with strong backing a pilot with some experience will upgrade quickly, currently DEC spots available in the YYZ area (YKF) and for those with le...

With bases in YXX,YVR,YEG,YYZ,YKF and YOW commuting is certainly possible. Future bases will likely be in YUL, YYC and YHZ so geographical spread will likely make it straightforward.

Re: Hiring DEC's
Actually, if you were American you could NOT simply live in YUL. Try telling Canada Customs, as an American, that you are living in Canada without the right to do so. Travel is simple but residency is not. Why do Canadians feel they should be paid the same as their American counterparts? Living cost...

Re: CTA launches formal probe into Flair
This is where the majority of the posters fail - they don't understand the CTA process. The control in fact requirements are not a set of prescriptive regulations such as the CARs but rather a far more nebulous set of requirements that are subjective. The CTA then has an ongoing responsibility to ov...

Re: CTA launches formal probe into Flair
Loans are permitted to be held by foreigners. The structure of the loan is what the CTA will look at and if that structure permits the foreigner to exert undue control. Leases - 777 purchased in bulk in order to establish a deep discount. The aircraft they have purchased are not only going to Flair ...
