Re: When to get the medical?

Thanks for the responses guys. I will have to call transport to clarify when it comes to that point but right now i am just getting ready to apply to Navcan. I currently fly so I hold a CAT 1 medical which is why I was wondering if it will be good for the initial medical. If I get through the proces...

Re: When to get the medical?

If you hold a CAT1 medical can it be converted or downgraded to a CAT2? Looking at the CARS it appears to be mainly all the same so I would think it should be easy to pass the CAT2 i'm just curious.

Re: new york oceanic question

hey Tim, I think you'll find this helpful. http://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/media/NAT%20IGA%202004.pdf I know I did and it sounds like we do the same job out of different bases. Sections 5 and 6 will have the info you're looking for. The Capt's are right though, we do need clearance in NY...

Re: Flight Instructor Records

I don't think the 180 PFL is a hard exercise since it's basically the last 1000' of a forced approach and you've been practicing those since your PPL. You pull the power off yourself and choose your landing zone. If you are confident you can make all of your forced approaches in the training area yo...

Straight Air is in southern Labrador. From what I know they're a pretty good company. Got a Beaver, Islander, Navajo and King air 90.

Re: GA cross-country pilot seeking advice

you may also want to consider going up the Quebec shore to Blanc-Sablon and crossing over to St. Anthony since the distance over water is much shorter. You also have airports in Blanc Sablon and St. Anthony with fuel and services. The small runways in NL are cleared by the NL gov't dept. of highways...

well niwre I know that 7S's info sounds more reliable than yours. There may be former instructors flying the 1900 but they never instructed at GFT. There is currently only one former GFT instructor flying the 1900, the first 2 left over a year ago.

Well it's quite simple really, it's easier to find pilots to fly the king air and 1900 than it is to find instructors. So they give these instructors something to dream about and they come and wait. It doesn't usually take them long to figure out whats really going on. It used to be easy because the...

They're looking for more instructors because they don't have enough to handle the current student load. International students, Cadets, all the domestic students. And yes instructors have made it onto the 1900 in the past.
