Re: Water bomber pilots
Apply and keep applying to all companies... hiring is not huge with the current industry standard but if you really want this gig. PM me if you like - it’s a good life.

AIRSPRAY ELECTRA into YKA for EASTER
The whistle was overhead, an Electra into Kamloops for the start of 2014 fire season. Early call I'd say, must be a good forecast before May!

Re: Hiring Tanker/Birddog pilots...Conair and who else?
Once these contracts are awarded, its difficult to reverse decisions. Maybe someone in BCFS or "used to be" BCFS in the private sector now can comment on the political motives here. I could see hiring arcross the board in the western provinces for the private companies, there seems to be alot going ...

A TANKER BASE NEAR YOU. Speculation has some base changes for the 2010 season. CYWL and CYCG for pit/ramp upgrade So Cywl could go mobile unit to Quesnal,Campbell River, or Puntzi, or just start in the north at CYXJ. CYCG could start in Cranbrook till construction complete, so Fall 2010. Appears to ...

Re: CONAIR L-188
HMMM, the grape vine has the "said L-188" having a wing damaged during a C check overseas... and the plot thicken. Sure hope there's more than one option for an import. But from what I saw in summer 2009 CYKA looks real good with yellow and silver nose to tail in the pits.

Re: Conair Career Advice
Well the big green comes at the end of the season when you are looking at unemployment and 6,7,8 months off. It's called the penalty box for those CARS days. When in the field we are there to work, and AB/BC& Yukon forestry make the alerts pretty conveinient to have half a life out there as flying b...

Re: Incident in YXT
Carson Air is a 703 cargo operation in regards to metros so, there wouldn't have been passengers on board. This is the ol bag run flight Smithers, Terrace, Vancouver. As far as PMA, approach ban and weather they should have been there in the first place, I think the company, and TC can best decide t...

Re: CL215s on the outs?
It has more to do with the politics of the whole thing as AB gov't isn't really concerned with fighting fire. But yes I'll take 3 215's over 6 802's anyday, the load is just more effective. Yes this can be complicated by alot of things, experience on the button, speaks volumes for getting any portio...

Re: CL215s on the outs?
Fire bombing in Alberta without all (6) 215's and more and more 802's will be alot like the seasonal forecast and how it feels on the ground... lots of swatting mosquito's and a few "scattered showers".

The work is non-standard meaning non-sced, but dynamic = good for certain types of people, but not "home every night". If the DFO hasn't changed... find him at the POC.... YYC = a good personality. I don't know what the majority of work is now since Cdn North took on there own Dash's, but maybe it l...

Both are excellent companies, good pay, and even the non - union has great benefits, and a pension plan matched by company as an option (for the lifers). Conair has more aircraft working in the system, so with that more jobs. At Airspray, they hire for the needed posiotion, so you can go direct into...

You can go for the interview, but if you accept Jazz and have a number at Jazz when AC calls back... you're pooched and won't be able to accept an AC position. This is happening all the time with people stating at Jazz, and getting an AC interview call, based on an old resume, so if you're a risk ta...
