Do Ya Think "Just Testing" Should Have Come First?

8-Minute Movie: "Pilots"
This is hokey, but it's kinda fun. And there's a leggy blonde in it. The International Watch Company (IWC) launched a new family of watches called Pilot last night in Geneva, Switzerland. IWC is the last Swiss company still making its watches entirely by hand. Its heritage dates back to the mid-1800...

Ever Watch Mainstream TV Anymore?
Just reading a news story over lunchhour about a conference in Montreal on the future of television. "Programs that used to be broadcast solely by conventional tv channels are now split up between specialized channels, video-on-demand, mobile phones and other platforms... "...young people are spendi...

Just wait for it TorontoGuy. It's $55 and you have to pay it every time you renew your medical. Every year the doctor just stamps the back of the medical certificate. Somehow TC gets away with charging their fee as well. For $55, I'd like to see the Minister of Transport himself give my medical cer...

Yesterday, our ground school started a new session. The CFI said FGU would give you a very good pass mark. If you want perfect, it's a good idea to study the recommended supplemental reading. From the Ground Up has been a staple publication for Flight Training in Canada for... well... a VERY long t...

I agree with medical doctors asking for a fee - they provide a service. (not coverd by medicare) The question I ask agian and again is; why TC charges an additional fee and why they (non medical personal) determine when I should be examined? Isn't that why I/you pay a doctor? For what exam does TC ...

I dont know about other pilots, but I would have been cutting my engines before I put it down. Interestingly, it's pointed out in the extras on the DVD that this was one of Hughes's failings as an aviator: whereas most pilots would immediately start emergency procedures and look for a safe landing ...

[quote="Hedley"] When the examiner pulls the throttle and says "simulated engine failure", give him a threatening look, push it back in again, and growl "simulated engine restart". If he gives you static about that, next time a throttle comes back, scream "Eject! Eject! Eject!" as loud as you can ov...

Yeah, the medicare system is there to provide universal coverage for what are deemed to be medically recommended/necessary services and procedures. While there's some argument over what should be in or out of that coverage, purely optional items such as aviation medicals (it's optional because you h...

Hotwings, I had no idea that my little questions and stories were getting someone so upset that he'd write out such a long harangue about them! Sorry to read you feel that way. Honestly, tho, you've got one thing wrong: I wasn't complaining, I was describing, as part of the story, in the same way yo...

Way to Save Toronto Island -- Fly-In LCBO/Beer Store
I've got the perfect way to save Toronto Island airport. Add a fly-in (like drive-thru) LCBO/Beer Store! Here's the ad: "On your way back to your airport? Thirsty? Don't want that annoying drive out of the way for beer or spirits on your way home? Visit Us! Land, pull up to the window, place your or...

Interesting. I never considered the training area distance issue, I imagine this distance could eat up a few exta $ over the entire course. I'll have to find out more about this from both schools. Thanks! It is an important point to consider. For instance, the extreme example in the Greater Toronto...

"It's your dime, do what you want!" When you are on a training flight you are (on the honor system) required to do only what you have been instructed (and approved) to do , by your instructor. It is irresponsible and foolish for any instructor to tell you to do what you want. What your instructor p...

ISTP makes a good point about stalls going bad when you solo. Wednesday, I kept cocking-up my power-on stalls. They kept banking and turning left, nose down, and my instructor, after one such, did say it could possibly end up in a spin. Aprt from that, I did ask him yesterday why such emphasis was p...

It Is a Great Flying Day! Did You?
Beee-ooo-tiful day for flying in good ol' Southern Ont. Did you? Light southern breeze at Brampton this morning, temps around 5C. Clear but for the haze frequently present when you're near The Big Smoke. But very light today. No bother. Better in the practice area to the north, tho. Spiral dive prac...

Foghorn... being rammed down people's throats by gay lobbyists with a broad agenda. Now you have hit the nail on the head my boy. The radical feminists came along 30 odd years ago with a stated objective to bring equality. The result was the emasculation (not really but for appearance sake and supe...

Typical of a poorly-founded protest. It has to rely on half-truths, rumours and innuendo. Their only real position is simply put: "I don't wanna". Deluce knows these people are there, tho. And he's going ahead regardless, with major, stable, well-respected funders backing him. So he must feel very a...

Does a big dick lower your ability to learn Hedley? I figured that you would already know the answer to that! Naw, the only problem with a big dick is what I get an erection, all that blood flow reduces my +ve G tolerance. I'm lazy these days, too, I don't bother to lug that big thing around,...
