Re: Timing the cycle

That’s not what I was asking. I’m actually curious if any of you think the freight situation will get worse and whether you think this might affect passenger travel which we probably won’t notice for a while. Freight will absolutely get worse, it was a terrible initiative made even worse by letting...

Re: That was a close one...

Close one but overall it looks like a great save from an experienced crew. The aircraft was landing 24L with a strong crosswind from the north, any experienced pilot flying out of YYZ knows that’s a very difficult runway to land on in those conditions as the terminal buildings create significant mec...

Re: Making 200k+ and going to AC for 55k?

There is no hard date for schedule release in the collective agreement. That's surprising. I've only worked for 2 705's but both had established publication dates. Thought that was the norm. When does the sked typically come out? I've always hated this aspect. The company knows the flights months a...

Re: Making 200k+ and going to AC for 55k?

What is possible? Usually you don't get your monthly schedule until a few days before the start of the month. So if you have days off at the beginning of the month they're basically useless because you can't plan to do anything ahead of time. Suddenly, with negotiations started, we got our schedule...

Re: Air Canada slashing routes out of Calgary in face of ongoing pilot shortage

AC is setting up the messaging for bringing in a massive amount of foreign pilots. Just wait for the mBA terms such as “operational sustainability” to hit the government and then the pressure will mount that the Canadian public will absolutely support.

Re: Air Canada vs WestJet

Are you flying less days at WJ than AC? Generally speaking yes, especially considering AC has training outside the block. So every 4 months an AC pilot will work an extra day or two. For example, an AC pilot would do 16 days of flying and 2 days of sim training. WJ would do 14 days of flying and 2 ...

Re: Pros and Cons btw FO and RP?

Likely better off WB RP, directly on the 777 if possible. Stay as an RP for the duration of flat pay then bid right seat 777 FO. Junior FO on the 777 is one of the better deals currently, as they can bid augment FO on 4 pilot pairings (good productivity) and then bid operating FO to less desirable d...

Re: Do not set the bar low again

Not sure I'd agree WestJet got a sweet deal considering they were in an actual contract negotiation and strike position. If their deal is sweet, dumping on this offer that's not to replace an expired contract seems like a double standard I agree. A 15% pay rise (7% when projected inflation is consi...

Re: The "Yes" side will be full of regret

PML had its day and proved to be unenforceable, just like flow. Jazz pilots will be much better off getting rid of flow from their contract and forcing to compete for pilots on salary and benefits alone. This will raise the bar for the entire pilot industry.

Re: New Jazz Proposal - Undercutting AC Bargaining?

It was a mistake for the Jazz MEC to even bring this proposal forward. With the top two benefits of the 17 year deal being ignored by AC (Scoped sole AC regional and flow to AC), they shouldn’t even be walking in the room to negotiate anything unless those are rectified first.

This forum has been very eye opening for prospective guys like myself. The consensus seems to be AC pros: pension diversity of work job security WB pay? WJ pros: SB - better schedule albeit junior/senior lifestyle vacation Alberta bases This is just from what I've gathered and I'm sure there are fa...

Re: Do not set the bar low again

The pressure on AC management is starting to mount. Cancelling routes due to regional pilots shortage will get investors asking questions, it no doubt has dragged heavily on the stock already. It’s unfortunate that this vote was rushed, as an industry we’ve only seen poor decisions come from “urgent...

Re: Negotiations

For the AC mainline pilots on here shitting on Jazz pilots and trying to pressure us to vote a certain way… kindly f!ck off. Pre COVID Jazz did 800 departures per day we are now at half that. Why? Because 220s are being used on many of what pre-covid were considered Jazz routes. Except they aren’t ...

To further prove my point, blockhokders 1 and 2 on the YYZ 737 CA list for September, are working 17 and 18 days respectively. Both have 25+ years with AC.

Re: Negotiations

Using the pay scale from 2019 and adjusting for inflation, this represents an 8% raise.

With current market conditions, Jazz pilots are worth more than 8%.

Re: Negotiations

The two biggest factors of the 17 year deal were flow and sole CPA. Those are both gone now. Unless Jazz gets both of those back, WITH punitive language for not maintaining flow and sole CPA, then what is the point of even considering a new deal? They didn’t hold up their end of the bargain on the l...

Re: Air Canada vs WestJet

I’m not going to speculate on why you would like to intentionally mislead your fellow pilots. Here are the facts as of this summer. YYZ- 737-FO Optimization and red eyes went up to to top 10%, Date of hire 2015 working 17 days. All blockholders junior to 2013 working 16 or more days. YYZ- 320-FO Opt...

Re: Air Canada vs WestJet

AC currently has one of, if not the worst scheduling rules in the country. While accruing seniority does help the scheduling become more manageable, most people are completely unaware of how long this actually takes. On the narrow body, FO’s take 7-8 years to get a good schedule and Captains take 13...

Now that the reserve rules are improved for days off and lifestyle, it should make it significantly easier for the union to achieve language that promotes more reserve pilots and more open time allowing a better schedule for senior pilots. With the computing power we have these days, the industry se...

Re: AIP is dogshit

The 20% is the 100% match in the CSP. WestJet matches 100% return on 20% of salary (CA1). So that represents 20% of your salary (CSP Match). The MEC has, for transparency, shown where this 20% CSP match has gone to so that pilots can see what was negotiated as new money. For easy dollars let’s assum...
