mmartin: recognigtion of the AME as an approved apprenticeship is done at the provincial level, I BELIEVE! And i stand to be corrected. In Alberta, AME apprenticeship is a recogized apprenticeship. Here, (Alberta0 apprentices can realize the full benefits of the tax system, as can AME's. I was doing...

The above reference ( in the previous post) referencing WNA's attempt to obtain the services of an expereinced AME is NOT meant as a reflection of the company nor the company's compensation package for their employees, their working conditions/benefits nor any other condition positive nor negative w...

Re: So I kinda want to be a mechanic.
O_S : I normally wouldn't respond to your post. After having read your previous posts, I can only assume based upon what you have previously posted, your short time in the aviation business and the fact that you own an aircraftm in it's self makes you a de facto expert in aiviation maintenance. I'm...

Re: So I kinda want to be a mechanic.
Here ya go folks. You'd think after all the discussions on here that a driver would be reluctant to make a statement like that on this site!! geez, ya just gotta wonder about the audacity of drivers!! You really believe he only wants to be ä "mechanic just for himself"? You believe that and I have s...

Re: PRM Exam & Interview Advice
The PRM is not DOING the maintenance. He is the one who is assigned (delegated) the duty of ensuring that the maintenance is accomplished in time and as per the MPD or Chapter 5 of the MM. Here's a prime example of why a driver shouldn't be responsible for maintenance! The maintenanc is NOT only car...

awareness, if you are willing to re-locate you will find work. If you stuck on an area it won't be easy. Gloomy images do mainly come from the large airline folk. The smaller operations folk tend to be happier. but once you get into the Westjets and Air Canada type operations you find unhappy peopl...

AME 283: As far as AMEs in general are concerned, the obsession is gone, replaced by the realization that we have been dry fornicated for eons! The obsession has been replaced by the realization that there is no future for AMEs; only years of unappreciated, non-respected, under compensated and overw...

Boy, did i step onto a land mine with that post!! lol However, i did help stimulate the thread. My primary field is AME, secondary is pilot. IF you are running the aircraft on th Cesscom maintenance program, and you're having the maintenance done by Cessna and/or an approved FAA repair Station - you're good to go.

Its okay to bash the employees and the industry BUT it does come time , on occasion , to look at ourselves and clean up our own act before we point the finger at anyone else. I stand to be corrected here, CA; BUT I haven't seen / read anywhere in this thread that any poster has bashed the employees...

WNA; Thanks for your reply, appreciated! Nope, I'm no longer pissed. I'n vindictive though!! The industry statndard you quoted is what I would consider the "normal"starting salary for a licensed and highly experienced engineer, topping out around 120K. And I do believe that the starting salar...

I must apologize for my ‘tin basher’ slang; when what I meant to say was B licensed (now Structures licensed) engineer. Personally, I don't take offense from anybody calling me a tin basher, metal masher or whatever. If I did I wouldn't be calling drivers drivers!!LOl Can't speak for other though! ...

So what's the operator supposed to do? Hire a full time ame to be his prm? Wow, you're a driver aren't ya!! ...blah,blah, blah I don'...

Re: PRM Exam & Interview Advice
Obviously Mr Bullet has an axe to grind. I think allowing a PRM to be a non-AME position is more for the small operator, operating small, fairly simple aircraft. Once you start getting into twins and/or turbines or multiple aircraft, it'd be best for everyone for the PRM to be an AME. I know of a P...
