Re: Top 100 Companies
Well, seeing as you asked. I did, about 10 years ago. Went to another country (actually, worked ATC in a few other countries). But I still have friends working in Canada and I chuckle as I listen to the stories of ineptitude at Nav Canada when ever we get together. As having worked for this company ...

Top 100 Companies
The Globe and Mail announced the winners for "Canada's Top 100 Employers For 2012" and shockingly, Nav Canada was not among them. I know, I know. I am as appalled as all the other "Unwashed Heathens" that populate the centres, towers, flight service stations and ATS facilities around the country. Ho...

My advice to you is, own a transponder, take off for your aerodrome, call YYZ Terminal in the air (about 30 miles from YYZ, if you're from far away), and hope that the operation is not too busy. You never know. Be prepared to be denied clearance to do it...about 99% chance. But, you never know. I kn...

There are limits established between the tower and the centre in regards to visual approaches. At YTZ, the reported ceiling must be 3600 ft or greater and the reported ground vis 5 miles or greater. Once again, if IFR traffic permits, the contact is ALWAYS available. Of course, you can always cancel...

You said there is 24hr FSS that does put out an hourly weather sequence, so therefore, the only question concerns the visual approch limits in regards to the reported ceiling and visibility. I don't work that airspace, so I'm not sure of the limits, but that may be the factor. Personally, I don't au...

I have been lurking around here for some time and only now did I feel the need to post. I'm a controller at Toronto Centre and we occasionally get tours through the building. A few years back, a pilot from Air France came through and my co-worker showed him around the building. At a point where the ...
