AC could petition the government to drop the new fatigue rules for a year... amongst other things to save money.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Here the latest bulletin from the VP of flight ops Cheers FLIGHT OPERATIONS NEWS This last year was a busy year in which we hired 453 pilots and we anticipate hiring the same amount this year. I am often asked what we look for in new hire pilots. We like some education and that they come from a good...

Air Canada's "Human Resources and Safety Drug and Alcohol Policy"
Revised August 17, effective October 17.
Is that good enough?

It's official:
"Responsibilities of Employees Engaged in Safety-Critical Work
Employees engaged in Safety-Critical Work are prohibited from using Cannabis and Illegal Drugs at all times,
even when not On Duty or in the workplace."
I assume pilot is considered "safety critical"

Re: What do you think of the new uniforms?
Just did my fitting today and liked it all except for the hat. I found it funny that despite the "fitting" appointment it is essentially off the rack sizing. They just want to babysit you cause guys probably just shrug their shoulders and order ill fitting garments. I needed longer sleeves for the t...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Aviators right.
It's a tough situation, but they can't say you're hired cause their are too many factors that can change that over 6 months. Although if you interviewed and did a medical I would think you're in good shape, they wouldn't wait 6 months to PFO you.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I condone none of what's happening with AC, BUT, guys with 4.5 years seniority are getting 320 Captain making $185000. If you like redeyes and Deer Lake  Junior Delta MD80 CA NYC has less than one year of service. 1/2 of the 15,000 AA pilots retire over next 9 years. A pilot hired today at A...

If a WJ off the street pilot is paying union dues and then see hundreds of Encore pilots slip in ahead of him I could see some hard feelings. That's the point of a union, to protect your seniority and working conditions.
Encore better jump on board as well IMHO.

Had a buddy at Jazz just tell me that if you put your name on the Pilot Mobility List (PML) and decline a position at AC you will remain at Jazz but put onto the new (shittier) payscale. Who comes up with this stuff?

I work at Air Canada and like looking at this thread to see what's going on with hiring, believe it or not this is the only place to find out about course dates and the hiring pool. I feel for the guys in the pool, shitty situation. What I'm getting sick of seeing is guys putting up long winded post...

Re: Air Canada Pool
Internal recommendations? I don't know for sure as I'm not an AC pilot, but I've heard there is a place where their pilots can recommend one individual each year. This is a new thing. I don't know how much an internal reference helps nor if that info is even accurate. The internal recommend is a ne...

In the CMSC 14-01A under "moving to inactive status" there are 3 names with retirement dates that span the next year.
These are the projected retirements.

Re: Air Canada Pool
Hiring due to retirement has been quite delayed due to the "age 60" rule changing. There are only 3 retirement planned in the next year (the guys have to give 12 months notice). I would say in 2 or 3 years it'll be over 100 retirements every year easily. The last bid nothing really changed (bid ever...

Re: CARGO ATTENDANT TO F.O POSITION
Listen to flatface and nottellin. Starting to fly isn't something you do "on the side". It's a total and utter commitment and timing in everything in this industry so the quicker you realize that the quicker you'll have the required experience to fly for an airline. Also, living in a city is hard wi...
