I'm refreshing this topic, any LOA's allowed?
They are allowed. All depends on pilot numbers. Only in summer. Some people have applied, and got it, some people refused.

Bottom line, much easier to get than other airlines, but not guaranteed.

Diadem, you really are a smug piece of work. I can't imagine flying with you. As a non expat I think what the others are saying is that we have it good Canada but our salaries could be better to match other countries with our standard of living. There is nothing wrong with that at all. You seem to b...

Do you still get per diems on top of the European deployment living allowance?

Thanks.
FCMs shall receive per diems when they are on Company business away from their deployed base in accordance with Article 14.

Re: Congrats

Instead of congrats I’ll offer my sympathy to all the TS folks who avoided AC for good reason and chose TS. Lol. Got the PFO letter from AC did you? Plenty of people in Canada that wouldn't touch AC with a barge pole. It's not the end all for everyone. And no, I never applied, for me my current job...

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring

Would 6000 hours+ corporate jet time (Challenger, Lear, Sovereign) meet the Captain upgrade requirements at SWG should a vacancy be available? Also, has anyone from the May interviews had references called as of yet? Thanks. Minimum Upgrade Qualifications 6.5.1 To qualify for initial upgrade traini...

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring

A gem??? Seriously? Sunwing isn’t very far removed from the days of trying to play the foreign worker system at every corner in order to avoid hiring Canadians. Instead filling their flight decks with cheaper, drunk Eastern Europeans. Eh? I work here, what on earth are you talking about? To be fran...

I heard that ground school are delayed due to the 737 max's crews are re-dispatched on the others 737.. Someone can confirm?
All pilots at Sunwing fly the -800 and Max.
So as ant alludes to. The answer to your question is, no, the ground schools have not been delayed

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply! Yeah it seems that opinions are mostly positive on this forum vs places like glass door etc. which have very negative write-ups about the company. I'm not opposed to deploying at all, would likely enjoy it actually for many reasons. The deployments also seem like ni...

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring

What is considered senior these days? Are there a lot of long term pilots? If so, do these pilots have an ok family life considering the deployments? Just curios... looking at the CA, it doesn't seem too bad. All depends on your family tastes. There are plenty of families who consider the deploymen...

When will they start news ground school?
It's the very first line of the job ad: "Classes begin in June 2019 and will be recurring consistently Every Month for the foreseeable future."
First ground school is May 6 for five initially. Offers are out

No call here.

B757 type. 5000 hours. tons of +12.5 multi turbine pic. 450 hours jet. ATPL. I'm baffled.

Must be a pretty deep pool.
Everyone I know who has been hired has come from an internal referral. If you know someone working there, push for that recommend.

Without a doubt Sunwing. Depending on experience upgrade times immediately to a couple of years.

WestJet I suspect somewhat more.

As a first year FO, I'm looking at about $90k this year all up.

Re: North America 737/320 Pay Round-up

You wonder why people keep applying at AC? A couple SW CA's just joined, one was 11+ years... Why do they come to AC? Because despite its shortcomings, and isolated issues, the contract is still as a whole better than all the rest... I know one of those captains that just went from sunwing to AC. H...

Sunwing will have you home every night if you choose. 737 NGs, Max's and you can choose for European tours. Best gig in Canada IMHO Not the case if you’re at the bottom of the list. You should see my January sched. Haha Yea mine too. Always hope for the future. Long pairings actually suit me though...

Re: Why does everyone want to work at Air Canada?

And how well can FO's do ??? Base salary is about $56k. extra 6k for training if you are Montreal base. You can look at about 8k extra a month in per diem (tax free) if you take a european base up to 6 months. 1.5k extra, apartment and a car for winter basing. Overtime is 2x. Could possibly do 100k...
