Wait until Tincan wants my jump seat from YHZ to YYC.

He’ll have a much lighter tone methinks.

Re: Time to Stand Firm

flyinhigh,

Let's be clear. WestJet pilots are not taking anything from anyone. They are retaining flying that we do already.

You are correct that we will have a spot for the successful OTS Swoop pilots that pass screening. The rejects will have to go back from whence they came.

Weedpro, My dad used to drink a lot - there were a few crazy consequences with that. That was over 20 years ago. I can hold onto a grudge or regard him for the helluva great dad he turned out to be. Your arguments about how things went down at the regionals in the 80’s and 90’s are not relevant and ...

Weedpro, You make some excellent observations. Truth be told not everything is totally bad around here and not everything the WJPA came up with is a dirty pig. However, What looms with swoop is the goal posts move yet again for many who are junior to you. If the company succeeds, many will never enj...

J Roc, Your recollection is accurate. Plan B was a capacity purchase agreement. It would have been a race to the bottom that makes Encore look like A scale Cathay. Encore has more ground to cover but at least it’s a realistic goal. A CPA would have been perpetual crap filled out to the lowest bidder...

Strike or lockout?

Hmmmm - don't care.

Lockout is only a tool in the tool chest for a company when they can keep a particular group off the property and not shut down most of the business. Lockout the pilots and almost everything grinds to a halt.

tbaylx, As I have tried to explain before, the fight is internal but the ramifications go beyond the doors of the WestJet world. Yes we are fighting for our T4s and by doing so we are trying to hold a bar. When that bar falls it affects the negotiating capitol at other airlines when it comes time to...

I find the wording interesting in Cam's memo.

As far as offering the two year thing - Cam indicates that they are not. The note did not clarify if they ever did though. If any such offers are rescinded then both stories are true.

Cheers.

By the time you react to the 30 foot call to close the thrust levers you are roughly mimicking what the plane does in an auto land and are fully compliant with the FCTM. As far as keeping some power on you'll decide that for yourself as a pilot when you feel the ass fall out of it on occasion. A bad...

Don’t forget SWOOP is proposed to have an ESPP program as well. An employee share match of non other than WJA shares purchased on the TSX. How much connective tissue does it take to get the point across? Still think it’s a new shop? Can I have some of what you’re smoking? All I hear from the pro off...

So anyone taking your advice and not applying now so that wages can be on par will slot in as a DEC at $120K a year? Nope, he'd end up right seat on a Q for $40K a year. Not much incentive for a DEC candidate looking to come home from overseas to wait for ALPA to try and argue common employer. I ge...

Gino, Take a copy of your post and put it in your wallet. 100 bucks says that in 10 years you will disagree with yourself. This is bigger than the WestJet Pilots. This affects us all. One should never chase metal, but rather look at the base and lifestyle. It's the most important thing. If I'm to be lucky enough to get on-board with Jazz, aircraft type would be the least of my concern. Sure the 100s / 300s are a bit older, but they're maintained well and are solid airplanes. I w...

What Bede said. What new commercial pilot said. I'll take my ESP program over a pension any day of the week.
