Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )

The table in the accident report doesn't show any bank until they were at/below VMC. Would it not be correct to assume they wouldn't have started to roll if they kept the speed up? I knew the FO. Armchair quarterback is a shitty way to analyze things. Yeah, and you also don’t tend to die in a simul...

Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )

Couldn't they have feathered the affected engine? I get that they might have been confused about the situation, but from what I've read about the accident, feathering the engine would likely have worked and have saved the plane. I agree. I was reacting to the 'the crew had no chance' comment above....

Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )

The Bearskin YRL incident is an outlier, that crew unfortunately had no change due to the nature of the partial engine failure they experience with enough residual torque and oil pressure to ensure NTS did not kick in. Couldn't they have feathered the affected engine? I get that they might have bee...

https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/351684 A Bell 206L operated by Hanley Heli Service Inc., was conducting aerial survey work in the western Lake Athabasca area with just a pilot on board. There was an abrupt change in weather that brought low visibilities to the area. The helicopter collided with...

Re: Westjet cancelling flights due to cold in Calgary

There are no airframe temperature limits on the 737NG or Max. Boeing does recommend preheating the Hydro-Mechanical Unit if the engine has cold soaked -40 or below.

The were issues with de-icing temperature limits and at times it was too cold for hold over times in freezing fog.

Putting a T7 on 24L (shortest runway at that Airport) is outrageous. 9000 ft runway is short for a B777! The GTAA and Nav Canada, both highly incompetent organizations. So we go from bashing AC pilots to bashing ATC? While GTAA and NavCan have their issues, lets deal with them in a construct...

Flew right by pickle, Red, Sioux look out, lac du bonnet too. All still have a gas.... Pickle and Sioux are quite a stretch off his track to make a low fuel diversion. I agree on Lac Du Bonnet or Red Lake but those would take some fuel awareness which I think was lacking at that point of the trip. ...

Re: Quick question on how to snag

Don't go looking for trouble. The airplane was looked at and has flown since your issue. I would advise you NOT to put an entry in the log book at this time as doing so will just create more problems. However, in the future you now know that it should be recorded in the log following the flight. 605...

Re: Dual Engine Issue

Vapor lock. I suspect they did not have the auxiliary fuel pumps on. The C310 main tanks are the tip tanks and the optional auxiliary fuel tanks are in the wing. Main/tip tanks are used for takeoff and landing. Auxiliary fuel pumps are to be turned on low when changing fuel tanks and are to be turne...

By inference its a dumbed-down taxi chart you can blindly follow and keep you safe with a bunch of suggested routes, warnings, or do-nots.
To highlight local procedures that may not be published in any document that a pilot could reference.

Flight idle all the way down. Not a good thing with TPE331 engines. You could see they had full up elevator in the flare, than gave up and let her bounce down the runway with the control column full forward.
