Re: YVR destinations
Curious to know why you find a yyz-sfo or yvr leg that bad? Is it because of the E2? Or is it simply because it's too long time wise, and it wouldn't matter what plane you were doing it on? It doesn't matter what I'm flying. After 2.5 hours I'm ready to be on the ground. The E2 is great. Ex...

Great job guys and gals. We were all watching and holding our collective breath. Hopefully you’ve set the bar high for all of us at other Canadian carriers. Congrats.

@Thepoors A word of advice for you: don’t even try to come to TS. Not that I think you would make it through the interview, but just in case you slip thru the cracks. We have no patience for a sour puss of your kind. You will get eaten alive. We’ve had a few of your ilk, they didn’t last long. We se...

Re: Any hiring plans this year at all?

You get typed on the aircraft awarded as per operational needs. Then if you transfer to other Airbus, you get a CCQ training (4 sims + PPC).

All training is done online from home except for a couple class days for performance course I think. Then APT and then Simulator.

Re: Reciprocal Pilot on AT?

The best part about Recip JS on Transat is that it’s free. Ottawa doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for something that should be free. I don’t know how we still get away with, but might as well take advantage of it.
FYI, we do YUL/YYZ to YVR/YYC almost daily.

Canadian airline pilot living overseas

Looking for someone with some knowledge of tax implications for pilots flying for a Canadian carrier and living overseas (aka. non-resident). The most recent post on the topic here is 4 years old and somewhat limited.
Please PM me if you prefer.

Re: Air Canada Rouge EGPWS warning at Huatulco
I wonder if AC 767 have a terrain function mode which would seem obvious to have displayed in an airport like this on descent. If so, do they have any SOP on displaying the terrain on one of the displays. I'm sure Altiplano can let us know beyond another "good job done" statement.
Do...

Re: Air Canada Rouge EGPWS warning at Huatulco

I've flown into HUX over a dozen times, both on a heavy And a narrow-body, and I can attest that this arrival has its challenges. Especially for pilots who are used to fly mostly ILS in radar environment. This particular flight was on UJ70/UJ39 via NUDOS and was cleared for the VOR DME 25 (most like...

I've been doing it for over 11 years, and I'm not even AC/Jazz. As long as you keep a ferry sailing as a last resort, you'll be fine. Only once did I show up at the ferries and it was cancelled due to high winds in Tsawwassen. I then manage to get a $80 seat on Orca Airways. And once on the ferry, y...

I've been a TS commuter for over 13 years on AC & WS. Not once did I not pop into the cockpit to say "HI and thanks for the ride", usually while boarding but if unable, then on the way out. What seems to be missing from this post though is that a JS should also introduce themselves to and thank the ...
