Re: Beaver Tips
I had the same thought. On wheels we routinely used 30 inches on take off. Sea level in the arctic and light loads. You simply dont have to run the old engine to red line to perform well. On floats, hot day, full load. You have to think differently. I suspect that the poster is referring to float f...

Re: Small aircraft loading
Do a W&B for a couple of typical loads and see how they come out. The a/c will fly best right on it's aft c of g.

Re: Aircraft tie down
I have heard of old wives tales about tying down, one is leave a little slack so that the taughtening of the drying wet rope doesn't break your wing! I tie mine down with about 100 pounds force each side, if a wind lifts a wing(s) its positive lift not negative lift and no worries about wing ...

I don't think privatization works. Certainly hasn't worked for highways. How do you build in a profit and get the same service for less?

You lean it like any other engine, just a bit rich of peak.

There are three reasons for forming a union. Bad management, bad management and bad management.

Remember seeing one in Redditt, believe it was operating out of Red Lake in the 70s. Pilot told me that forgetting the trim on TO could be fatal, otherwise a good AC.

The folding boats |I have seen have pieces of wood to stiffen them. Don't try and fly the boat unless thy are inside the boat! I saw a beautiful Pa-12 crash because the front of boat bent over resulting in loss of control and a spiral into the water.

That'd be the one. There was a lot of speculation at the time as to whether it was going to a legit mining company or not!

Re: TC intros new reg amends for the oversight of POC holder
Seems to me they were under regulated or at least under-monitored. Shame to see them have to adopt ALL the red tape that commercial carriers suffer under though. Takes so long and costs so much to make anything happen.

Re: Alaska Airlines Goose
I was told that Alaska used to firewall the engines on takeoff ( and had their own overhaul shop). I only firewalled the Goose once and when I found time to look at the m.p. it was coming back down through 42". Wonder how high they would go? Testament to the 985's durability.

Re: external load stc
You know in the early 80s, I a friend told me about a conversation between two TC types that he had overheard in the s. terminal (YVR) coffee shop. " you could INTERPRET this to mean" . Sure enough within a couple of months we had an inspector wandering around the dock in YPR telling people to untie...
