Hi, Turbo-fans are not specifically mentioned in the CAR's or our MANOPS...for regulatory & separation purposes we consider turbojets & turbofans the same.

ATC does not offer a VFR departure for the same reason it will not offer a contact approach. It's a matter of liability. All PPC rides are completed from the left seat...the person in the right seat (if applicable) is not being tested...although they can lose their IFR if the test goes south. Pa-31 PPC's are only required for Captains (left seat)...however a PPC'd pilot can obtain either a Single Pilot (or) 2-crew PPC...
