Re: Alberta Mountie charged with assault
You are certainly correct in your assessment of mounties as "thugs". I see in Canada the cops are becoming more and more militaristic, when you see them in their black riot gear and shields, busting heads in, it's just straight out of 1984 . In the US they have something called posse comitatus...

Re: Man dies while de-icing plane at Calgary airport
Very, very sad that this happens, now I guess will be a push on to ensure these guys are using safety harness's. Why no harness in the first place and working alone I have no idea..

Blow me down & shivver me timbers..
This just hot off the presses from nyetski land. Needless to say, if there is a scintilla of truth involved, we are in deep doodoo. If not, we can go back to sleep for a while..

Re: Westjet "New and Improved" res system
I think SABRE is going to bleed Westjet, perhaps more than most people think. I'm trying to remember some of the ancient history regarding one of the Canadian industry mergers. As I recall SABRE or AMR or American Airlines was prepared to make a highly dubious loan of 200 Million dollars, on condit...

Re: approach ban
I'll do my best to lay this out in a format that makes sense. For 703/704, with the ops spec an aircraft can use the 50% of the CAP advisory vis to all approaches non precision. For a precision approach you require the centre line lighting plus other stuff to be able to use the 50%. If you don't ha...

approach ban
Likely this one has come up recently but need to ask again. 50% can be applied to the advisory vis but there are a number of restrictions - Any takers :? I know that there are op specs to meet and straight in etc. but seems to me there has to be centreline lighting which pretty well rules everyplace...

Id venture to guess that a c46 would clunk around mt for a circuit with one fan windmilling unfeathered, who knows?

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
They also said they had a 200' cig, looked considerably better than that..whatever, its all for the drama. Needless to say and I have never got near to a c46 - nor would I - your not likely to do much climbing with #2 unfeathered, but they were likely dead mt and light on fuel so who knows but the g...

Funny how you mentioned the smell of the new train. Another person said how nice it is compared to SkyTrain. Oh just you wait. the stench will rise up soon enough - too bad more of the train could not have gone underground so as not to be such a blight on the eyes. It's also wrecked havoc wit...

Re: Air France 447 Reported Missing
The area of ocean in which this flight went down is 24,000 feet deep. Somehow I doubt that france with all their Jaques cousteau gadgets will get to the bottom of this. Best bet is likely to study the data links and determine if multiple lightning strikes and/or break up in tcu was the most likely c...

Re: Obama ends program that let pilots carry guns
Well guess what? Society has laws and a democratically elected government ultimately does what the population wants or they get booted out of power. So if our society says no to guns, which it definitely does in this country, then you had better get used to it. It isn't fear, it's a desire to live ...

so I do not happen to believe the official story of events and I wont accept that guns in the cockpit would have made a difference. This is my opinion, I wont get dragged into more debate O.K. Re: Obama ends program that let pilots carry guns
Well, there have been books and movies written about the whole thing than can articulate in far better detail than I can. But some for instances, do you recall that when Payne Stewarts Lear went off course there were a couple of F16's off his wing within 20 minutes? Then recall that we had nordo 757...

Re: Obama ends program that let pilots carry guns
Anyway, Obama is an arrogant communist control freak and NO ONE other than his goons will be packin, that much you can count on. Really, your telling me if the pilots of those ill-fated flights had been packing, there would not have been a significant chance of the outcome being different? No matte...
