Re: This can't be good for the industry...

This will barely make any changes to pilot supply in the industry. Skilled workers and, in particular, Flight Instructors, already have a specific path to Permanent Residency in Canada. That has been the case well before this current "shortage". All this seems to do is perhaps speed up the process ...

No shortage of byys in the city willing to pack up and move home to the east coast. They will fill that immediately

Interesting...
I’d like to know where they are getting the pilots for that lol
PAL owns Moncton Flight College. Easy way to get some ball and chain FO's.

Re: I am still ready

The fact the union agreed in principle to this is crazy. You hit the nail on the head. The entire industry thought this was going to be the big money moment in Canadian aviation. Sadly, this shows extreme weakness and it will be hard to carry momentum now. Even with a no vote, everything looks like ...

What was the pilot group expecting or least hoping to get? I'm curious before they release the real numbers

Canada/USA cell phone plan

Hey everyone,

What are you using for a Canada-USA cell phone plan? I'm sure many of you have discounted plans or company phones through your employer, but does anyone else have good intel on a plan/provider?

Thanks

Also, you can find direct contact details to folks at TC here by following the menus and selection the region. Dont use the generic numbers, go direct to the folks desks.

Re: Dealing with Civil Aviation Medicine

When you call TC and nobody answers, use the pay a bill option. I waited a very long time once dealing with an issue, calling every day for weeks on end without any response. Once I dialed the option to "pay" them I was quick to get a voice on the other end. That one person helped me and got my case...

Re: FAA/TC ATP Verification

Same just happened to me. TC and their bullshit. I am due to have it signed off by the FAA on zoom in Jan after waiting months for the FAA to book it and confirm my documents. The way I view it is that not having proof of the medical doesn't mean anything for a conversion. For example, you have a TC...

Re: US Airlines hiring Canadians

Some used to do H1B, such as Air Wisconsin. For 2022 they are not, they interview in Sept-Oct for sponsorship of H1B for April the next year. They opted not to do so this year. The skies article was referring to a lady who got a H1B at Air Wisconsin, then married and American. So...that doesn't real...

Re: Encore Hiring 250 hrs

Encore pays well enough for a 250 hr wonder imo. There are way worse jobs. I really think the 1500 hour rule was awesome for pilots in the US, but that's a whole other thread. I'm more interested in the fact Encore thinks there is a shortage coming again. Wages and conditions across the board will s...

Re: Encore Hiring 250 hrs

Well said. I never understood the people that preach the 1500 hour rule as some beacon of safety, and they usually quote their famous Colgan air example where the first officer had.....wait for it....over 2200 hours....so what does a 1500 hour rule solve again? A US National Transport Safety Board ...

Re: Interest in US airline positions

Talked to a law firm about the EB2 NIW. I have the 10+ years of experience required, but I have no degree. The deal breaker would be having the CPL/ATPL recognized as degree education equivalency. Has anyone tried to do this or can anyone recommend an agency that has been able to do it?

Re: Unable to contact Transport Canada

I had about 6 months off work due to their own paperwork error on my medical. Called every day for months and emailed anyone who would let me listen. Even tried to go into the offices which were locked. They are a pathetic group of people. You know how I eventually got though? I used the option to s...

You right wing folks are all the same, you love the idea that you are being persecuted. Pretty arrogant to suggest someone is right wing because they simply view things differently then you. Its like you actually think you're better then someone else without knowing a thing about them. Even if they...
