Anyone else listen to the ATC tape? He declared a mayday stating he was having control issues. Never heard anything about an engine failure.

I can't tell if you are 4 serious or not?
Some 319's are at Rouge, 737's are on order for Mainline. Those are the only concrete facts out there. Everything else you hear is a rumour.

Re: Engine preheat idea
In any really cold weather, those heaters can't heat squat. In the elements, it would be a fire hazard (If you look at the manual for most of those heaters, they say not to use below -10 (Or was it -20?). Good idea, if you found a proper heater.

Not exactly sure on the hunting season's. But if you have time, maybe pick up a firearms license. 7F brings in tons of hunters for the Caribou season up there but it may be closer to the fall. I bet you can't find a better time killer then that! Might have to make some friends to get around though!

Re: Study shows career as a pilot becoming less attractive
Being a young guy, who had a few hard years of work and sacrifice. A few close calls, and some sleepless nights. I look back to where I am now, what i've seen, the financial investments i've banked(Despite mediocre pay). There isn't a chance in hell i'd rather be doing anything else. Maybe it was ju...

Re: Air Canada Rouge Uniforms
I laugh at these comments. Boys and girls, get outta the North, and or away from the kids soccer games and walk around a hip area of town. It will all make sense. Although i'm not a fan of the lack of any form fitting female uniform that the young and dumb new F/A's will be wearing (I say this becau...

Re: First Year Air Canada Pay
First Year T4, half on the new pay, half on the old pay was $46000 as EMB F/O. A class members flying as an RP was just shy of $50000. Tack on $5-8000 in per diems, and that is what you can expect.

Re: Equipment Bid
Ego is the biggest reason. Hands on flying if you haven't done enough already. I moved from an F/O position with the company backwards to an RP position. I miss the flying, but I have way too many hobbies to fly and enjoy them all. Sorry, lifestyle over ego wins this race. That is until I get a fami...

Re: Alternative winter jacket to Canada Goose..thoughts?
Year 1 - On the ramp. Old Ski jacket layered up. Year 2 - Sorel Parka! What a great coat, little cold in the wind. Year 3-5 - Canada Goose Snow Mantra - Useless unless your standing around. Think about being warm, you'll start sweating. That hood was killer when you were stuck somewhere and not movi...

It will be a sad day when the last one leaves Sproat. I grew up watching those aircraft from across the lake. You can't blame the owner, they have barely been used.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Your theory is flawed. Those 25 year olds have been doing NPA, circling into thunderstorms and blizzards for their entire commercial career. While the experienced high paid captains have been slowly getting more and more complacent going from ILS to RNAV with a full accurate set of PAPI's. But I do...

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Now let me see........ $48,000/year divided by 3600 hours(tafb) = $13.33/hour Sweet!!!!!! :toimonster: There are lots of 25 year old applicants with no spouse, dependants, or mortgage that are more than happy to sign up. And these same 25 year olds will eventually over time become the new LCC Capta...

YFB ATR
2 weeks in, 2 out. More like 15 in and 13 out.
2 year commitment until you can bid another a/c in the company (You can still bid captain on the ATR within 2 years) - No Bond

The Dr in YVR who did my medical last year stated they are just doing everything required for a Cat 1 medical. Your first Cat 1 medical. If there is any issues that come up, it will delay your hiring. You will do more tests until they can prove your ok. If you have something unusual, that particular...

Re: Resolute First Air plane crash lawsuits filed in Iqaluit
Very glad to see this happening. I don't care who wins, but I was also afraid the military impact would not see the light of day. It was a gong show up there for a week prior, due to this so called "controlled airspace". Did it cause an accident, no. Contributing factor, it's possible.
