Re: Motion in flight simulator

I'm not an airline guy, but why not go to VR simulators? I've done it once on FS2020. Even though the graphics were lower, and the screen was jumpy, it was a much more realistic experience. I even found myself anticipating the lurch as the plane comes to an abrupt stop after slamming on the brakes (...

Re: ANYONE STILL WAITING FOR AVIATION LICENSE AND BOOKLET

I second the phone call suggestion. I've had to call about my night rating, class 3 instructor rating upgrade, and class 3 renewal. The night rating "fell through the cracks" and was sent off when I hung up, and the instructor rating sticker..... Well, I received a SECOND class 4 sticker before I re...

Sometimes you need that extra 5 degrees of flaps to get you off of a particularly sticky surface.

Ya. It's not what you see on Youtube. "Bush Flying" is different than "Off Airport Landing". If you're serious about it, stick it out and get your foot in the door now.

Being single also helps your bush career.

Re: Aerial Application

Unless you grew up on a farm, and have experience mixing chemical, or did it for a few summers in high school, your first season after initial training is going to be spent mostly on the ground, with flights given to you progressively. Most ground crew are paid reasonably well. However, if you are t...

Not true. I tested positive while my other colleagues did not.

Re: Got kicked out of my flight school today

What school is this?? Or, if you aren't comfortable sharing that info, what province you in? That is a poor way to treat a mistake! Stuff breaks. It's your life and experience that matter. As has been previously mentioned, you're going to be a better pilot because of this mistake. It's not a reason ...

Re: Push

It should be your instinct to push the yoke forwards in that situation. Americans need to update their PPL training syllabus to include full stalls/ full stall recovery. Then this "how do you recover from a stall/spin scenario??" phenomena would disappear...... Somewhat.....

Re: Should I do CPL just for the skills if I only want to fly privately?

I would recommend doing the CPL training, especially if you are going to be doing your Instrument Rating in the near future. You need 40 hours of instrument time to qualify for the IR. As of right now, you likely have 5ish. The way I describe the levels of instrument training between PPL,CPL, and IR...

Lucky Lake, SK. I flew there with the intention of walking 400 meters to the gas station to fill up my jerry cans, and got picked up about 40 yards down the road! Lucky Lake, indeed :)

Re: Full Time Ground School?

Kinda hard to fast track what is intended to take 40 hours.

Stick with the online ground school. You can blast through it all in less than 3 weeks if you're devoted. Or if you have crappy weather and can't go flying anyways. Or if you have no friends (like me :) )

Well, if they come lookin' to lure me out of retirement, I'm putting my foot down! Signing bonus, minimum $150000/yr plus allowances, 30 days (working days) holidays, and only work between ten and two with an hour off at noon for lunch and a nap... :smt040 Sooooo, a typical government job, then???

Re: Whats the best headset to get

You can use the poor man's noise cancelling: ear plugs. I use a David Clark when I'm flight instructing, with ear plugs. For the 6+ hours a day sitting behind an engine, the earplugs eliminated my headaches. I might have a small head, because I've never felt that they were a vice on my noggin. Even ...
