Who will represent us?

Who will represent us when this pilot group finally goes to the union representation vote? ACPA, or ALPA?

What are some of our pain points with ACPA and ALPA right now?

Re: Scope, Transat merger, other examples.

So DP, if one list doesn't mean much, why even bother merging the transat pilot's over? In your example wouldn't ACPA let Transat continue with the right pressures and "deal" alike the 10-year deal that caused the division you speak of? Say CR offers the 500+ million cash in transat's bank as a bonu...

Scope, Transat merger, other examples.

So far the majority of what’s been said is that if the acquisition goes through, from a pilots point of view, Air Transat pilots will be integrated into AC because of the scope clause regarding 80+ seat aircraft being flown by pilots on the AC seniority list. Judgement has also been passed that if A...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Alrighty there boys and girls, go easy now. I don't hate Air Canada, or her employees one bit. Georgian and it's ads on the other hand... As for fantasy hardly (as I don't wish a repeat of the various bust cycles we've seen over the years), but only time will tell - as the signs are in place that t...

History Lesson

Can those of you who were at AC before 2010 explain how it came about that passenger flying in excess of 76 seats was set to be flown by AC pilot's, thereby handing out 76 seats and less to the regionals? Just trying to gauge what it is you were up against to negotiate <76 flying away from AC. Thank...

Re: Hiring?

My suggestion is to now hop into a king air (along with all the 700 hr captains these days LOL) or something similar. I don't know if I read that correctly. Are you suggesting for example a jazz CRJ Captain with 700 hours or a CargoJet 767 Captain with 700 hours command should be jumping into a kin...

Re: CargoJet or Transat?

Anything else I am not considering? Honestly a bit nervous to join the BOTL with the state of the economy as is. Cargo, Mail, and Worldwide Parcels have to fly. Passengers don't. The nights are a killer. It affects everyone there, some more than others. The others stay there and the place is like a...

Re: CargoJet or Transat?

So how about an AC and CargoJet comparison? At Face Value CargoJet Max 16 days Worked Air Canada 767/777/787 Wide Body Operation No Maximum Days CargoJet Starts 70k, 2 years to command, start making 133k-220k as of today's collective agreement across 13 years. Air Canada Starts 50k, 3 or so years t...

Re: CargoJet or Transat?

Thanks guys this is a helpful thread. KFC was supposed to have the Purolator contract "forever" because Barry was some kind of guru. We all know how that worked out. You know who the president of Cargo Jet is right? He counts his nickels and dimes. When, not if, the Canadian economy goes into freefa...

Re: CargoJet or Transat?

Freight has to fly in a good or bad economy. Vacation travel doesn't. I'd think Cargo flying would be safer than vacation flying if you look through the optics of a bad economy. One could also say that the Canadian Recession bodes well for US buying power... so expansion of UPS/DHL flying could be a...

Re: CargoJet or Transat?

Thanks! Numbers don't lie but there is more to it like working conditions and vacation. Air Transat is doing well on both. I've been at Air Transat 11.5 years and I am quite happy. Layoffs should be a thing of the past and we haven't had any in a few years, as a matter of fact there will be a big hi...

CargoJet or Transat?

What would you do if you had offers from both? Here's my pro and con list: - Transat Own's its own flying, but subject to competition from rouge, swg, westjet. CargoJet has no competitor but also relies on contracts. Purolator contract expires 2025 with renewal option. - Transat 5 years to 330 comma...
