Re: Current Group 1 IFR?
This comment isn't specific to Jazz, but I still don't quite understand this general requirement of needing to have a current IFR (other then for obvious reasons relating to IFR flying competency)... I agree. This was my understanding as well.. I’m beginning to think it’s simply a company policy, r...

Re: Updated salary tables 2024
Also if anyone has access to other payscales from around the world, please post or PM me and I'll add it. Especially if it's a company that AC executives use for setting their own compensation. Tried finding some European legacy carriers, but that was a little more challenging. BA has a new contrac...

Re: Updated salary tables 2024
Those wages make me physically ill. Not one is "outstanding". The are all "meh". Remember how hard you worked to get here, and how "fragile" your career choice is. Simply forgetting eye protection when changing your brakes will end it forever in an instant. When you factor in the fact that inflatio...

Re: Considering jumping ship
But what if you're on time, but the last flight to get home is full? Same policy still apply or you're on your own If there's no seat available for you, then you might just be out of luck. You check the next available flight, possibly on another carrier, and get home later than expected; or spend t...

Re: Considering jumping ship
Wow, you can possibly get a hotel if your flight is delayed causing you to miss the last flight home? That's a pretty solid deal, makes commuting a little less stressful. Obviously this commuting policy is applicable only to porter flights i'm guessing? Yes you need to travel from a location that p...

Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
I think you missed the point... I'm pretty sure no one here is implying that those in less fortunate situations, shouldn't be given a chance at a better opportunity, but to automatically be given a work permit, and license recognition, just to undercut those at home who would be willing to do the j...

Re: Which sh!tty operator is advertising internationally?
I see some you are ignorant of conditions in other parts of the World. There are Pilots flying Q400 in Nigeria, India and Angola to give 3 examples. I've spent time in all 3 countries - in 2 of them crews weren't allowed out of the hotel! Pilots in these countries will jump at this opportunity imho...

Re: Hiring Pool
I assume because of the ongoing situation .. ? Partially, but more because of the current CA/FO imbalance. Most FOs are flying a bare minimum of hours right now. We were told hiring will be reevaluated on a month-to-month basis going forward. Meanwhile Jazz is taking in full 20 people classes as pe...

Re: YVR destinations
Curious to know why you find a yyz-sfo or yvr leg that bad? Is it because of the E2? Or is it simply because it's too long time wise, and it wouldn't matter what plane you were doing it on? It doesn't matter what I'm flying. After 2.5 hours I'm ready to be on the ground. The E2 is great. Except for...

Re: LOOKING FOR COMPANY TO GET PIC TIME FOR ATPL
For the sake of argument, and semantics... if one writes their SARON and SAMRA before they meet the ATPL hour requirements, isn't that technically a frozen ATPL? You have your exams written, you now just need to "activate", or "validate" those exams. That's essentially what goes on in places like Eu...

Re: A321 v A330
Seems extremely expensive to give every pilot two type ratings. it's a MFF (mixed fleet flying) program which is approved by TC, but as far as implementing it, I don't think it's happened yet, but those at TS can correct me. One of the pages from the pdf below mentions the approval https://www.goog...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Honest question, where are these pilots going to go if the contract isn’t to their satisfaction? I think people overestimate how many would actually leave AC, maybe some will look overseas but the reality is there is no where else in Canada once you’ve made it to AC. I have kept my software enginee...

I have no idea where you are getting 85% of doctors/engineers/lawyers would be able to achieve a cpl... But if that's your own made up number, I'll go ahead an claim 85% of pilots can become a doctor/engineer/lawyer... I think what you also don't realize is, there are quite a few pilots with engine...

Re: How long til $100k?
I entirely disagree with your dismissal of comparisons between pilots and other professions. While it's not on exactly the same level, I frankly find "laughable" a little insulting. It's not as rigorous, and less expensive, but also a completely different skillset outside of pure academics. I take ...
