Re: How old is to old to go to AC?

I started with AC 4 years ago at 50. People thought I was crazy to give up my career and start flying in my 30’s. Maybe I was but I don’t regret it. It all comes down to personal choices and priorities. It is definitely tougher when you’re older for sure.

Re: Leaving a good paying secure job for aviation

Been there, done that and presently doing it for the second time😜. Only you can answer that question. It depends on how bad you really want it. My decision was based on the fact that, I’d much rather live with the regret of chasing my dream and feeling later I should of stayed where I was than, live...

Re: Are Hours overrated?

I think Dagwood makes some very interesting points. Just look at the ATPL requirements for example. Had 2 friends, one became an instructor and the other went ramp-DHC6-DHC8. After several years flying a DHC6 and 8, he had to rent a C-150 to get some PIC time for his ATPL. I'm sure that getting anot...

Re: Crew feared pilot would 'ditch'

It's the same in every industry. Had to get a RCMP letter of conduct a few days ago. The secretary (or whatever they call them these days) wouldn't ALLOW the police officer to give me a letter because there was another Station 15 min closer to where I lived. The officer is a good friend and later to...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!

you ever been in a single engine scenario where staying airborn was questionable?[/quote] Yes. Halfway between YSF & YPA about 8 years ago in a PA31-350.. It scared the living shit outta me BUT we got it under control and landed safely in YPA. Luckily I didnt need my F/0 to "talk me through it" like...

I am curious of the proper way to log IMC as well. I've been told to only log actual IMC time and I've been told to log all Filed IFR time and TC will credit you with a percentage of this for IMC. Anyone know for sure the proper way?

Re: IATRA VAILIDITY ?

With regards to not writing the IATRA because it will expire in 24 months, I'd say study and write it. You'll learn alot of stuff (or at least I did) that you should know that's not in the CPL, especially duty times, free from duty times etc for different operations. The exam is not that hard and is...

Re: IATRA VAILIDITY ?

Your type rating (IATRA) will remain valid with a PPC ONLY IF the aircraft is certified to fly 2 crew. That does not mean the company SOP's require 2 crew but the certification of the A/C does. I could be wrong, but I don't think the KA 200 does. There is a list of all A/C types and their certificat...

It's your decision but I am with the others, keep the job! Once you finish your PPL, commercial is mostly time building, rent the plane on weekends for cross country trips and the hours quickly rack up (as well as the bill!). If you have a large debt when you finish your commercial, you may not be a...
