Re: It's like a drug, no?

My simple advice for success? Don't limit yourself to only flying airplanes. Learn more about the total industry and then master those jobs too. Take on responsibility for the sake of responsibility, and what you'll learn from the experience, not just that it might pay you an extra few bucks at the...

Re: Road trip

I definetly agree, now is the the best time as operators are searching for guys for the summer. On another note, if theres no luck out there right now, try again in august or sept sometime. I have gotten 2 jobs that both happened because i stopped by between the middle and end of august. This is rou...

Re: A PhD in Aviation?

the more i thought about panning this "aviation phd" idea the more i want to do it because of what a juicy, low hanging fruit it must be. the coursework is probably a low impact cakewalk of interdisciplinary grab-baggery: a book report on "CARs in plain english", a case study on southwest, watching...

Re: Bush pay???

Damn, sounds pretty rough. As a low timer myself i can definetly sympathize with you guys, some of these operators are pretty cheap. As for my situation... aircraft used: Bell 206 Jetranger, Robinson 44 pay per month: 3200 salary, 20$ a flight hour hours worked flying/other: usually 8-5 off the base...

Initial purchases or leases and ongoing costly maintenance. Just find a company and work for them and give them a good work ethic, and things will work out.

Re: spring heli job?

yup

had a few guys come through our doors looking for work, and basically said alberta is dead and places are lookin for the higher time guys instead of the lower times. There are obviously a few out there but competition is fierce.

good luck

Re: any job will work

my advice, get on with a spray company. Long days and a good intro to the industry, and with per deims, away from base pay, and salary you can make some good cash. Youll work with some characters and get to fly in the choppers a bit hopefully, and come away at least knowing a few of the logistics of...

Jobs are out there

Keep searching boys, because the jobs are definetly out there. Just got hired to do some groundcrew work and hopefully when the season ends in a couple months I will be trained on the r44. Lots of work ahead of me, but the opportunity is there and its still early in the season to be hired like this....

Re: Emailing resumes- what format?

couple alternate routes... 1. FAX the resume with a cover letter, its too easy just to hit the delete button with an email once the ops manager reads '200 hours', and if he reads the cover letter he may get a better impression of you rather than just the resume by itself. 2. With a cover letter, try...
