Re: YVR In-person Assessment (Jan 2019)

Well, I received an email informing that I did not make it, so if you guys didn't receive that email, that's probably good news for you. Grats to those who passed and good luck to you guys.

Re: YQM VFR National Course - November 2019

Which FIR are you guys in if you don't mind me asking? The supervisor at YVR told us there won't be any VFR courses here in the foreseeable future because of contract negotiations... I wonder if there's any possibility for national VFR courses.

Re: Decline an in-person assessment?

Was invited to the May 2018 assessment and again to the Jan 2019 assessment. Unfortunately, no dates worked for me again due to work and being out of area. :( I wrote the online assessment in Jan 2018, so will likely be doing that again soon and hope I can make an assessment sometime this year. I'm...

Well, I guess that would be after the interview, except you don't get to know what stream you're assigned to anymore so from that perspective, never.

Re: YVR In-person Assessment (Jan 2019)

I was told we'd get our results soon after the last interviews are over, like july 20something.

But yeah, I didn't even check my account, I figured if results were out there would be people posting here so I just have a tab of this forum open and f5 it once a day lol.

Re: YVR In-person Assessment (Jan 2019)

Hey @aslam, thanks for the update. I actually really like the prospect of a grade 3 or lower tower, because it seems to be the perfect balance between stress, flexibility and salary. Plus most of the towers are in lower mainland, which is awesome. The only one I was iffy about is prince george, but ...

Re: YVR In-person Assessment (Jan 2019)

Got an email for interview dates! So excited. When are you booked in for? I'm booked info this Wednesday morning. Are you before or after that? Also, what are you doing to prep? I had my interview on the 20th. It went okay, not great but not absolutely horribly, although I am less confident now tha...

Re: Notice period for assessment or bootcamp.

I don't know the answer to your question, but we got our interview invites on Monday so that was the 10th? And the first interview date was on the 13th. But there were also other options way later like July 19th. So I guess the situation is different, not sure how much that helps you. Also, if you'r...

Jan 20something. We still have not (or at least I haven't, dunno about the others) gotten our interviews yet. We also did the old w-sim test, not FEAST.

Re: YVR IFR course offers?

Sorry, I don't know how FEAST goes. YVR is I think the only region stuck with the old in-person assessment, and even then I think we were the last group to do it; they seem to be switching to FEAST too.

But good luck to you, help you do well.

Re: YVR IFR course offers?

Still waiting for our interviews... kinda jealous of the winnipeg toronto guys who are getting/have gotten theirs already despite having the in-person assessment later than ours, but it is what it is. Plus now I got time to go tree planting and then travel a bit, so that's nice. Fingers crossed they...

How was the ITA kels? Was it more/less/about the same difficulty as you expected? And congrats Lisa! Re: Initial "wonderlic" test

Nah, least aptitude based is the interview :P. I think I've seen people say they managed to get invited with a 24/25 questions answered in old reddit threads or something. Can't remember clearly. But yeah, I think it definitely should be easy enough that you don't need to strategize by skipping "har...

Re: Boot Camp Invitation (FEAST process)

Well, if we were to assume that FEAST is better at finding the people with the right aptitudes to become an ATC (which is really the only reason they are bringing it in instead of continuing using the previous tests in the first place right?), then we might also assume that more trainees accepted fr...

Re: The odds of making it

I wonder why. From what I gathered, we only had about 50 people in the two days of testing at Vancouver. Supposedly we'll also have that many spots for IFR + VFR + FSS? I don't think vancouver class sizes are significantly smaller. Does that mean Toronto is much more competitive than vancouver? Or d...

Re: The odds of making it

I don't know how the new FEAST changes things, and I'm sure it does change things a lot. But for the old w-sim assessments, according to Joanne, 3% of applicants are invited to training. And from the website or somewhere, I read that 40% of applicants are successful for the online testing (but not n...

Re: YVR In-person Assessment (Jan 2019)

So, Joanne responded to the 3 questions in my email.
I am not aware of the timeline for interviews for the Vancouver FIR
You would receive an invitation in the same format as you did for the testing session
And she confirmed that we would no longer have a phone interview.

Thanks for the screenshot. Ok so mine still shows “National” at that same spot. I’m curious, what did you say in your initial application under the section where it asks if you would consider training/postings in another FIR? Did you say yes and if so, which FIRs did you indicate you would be inter...
