Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
Also, please do not think of SWOOP/WestJet in terms of Rouge/Air Canada. The business model of SWOOP is fundamentally different than WestJet with no overlap or connectivity to prevent cannibalization. More important, the collective agreements' scope clause prevents any other airline engaging in a bu...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
It's been four months since the start of the thread with its summary of the contract. Anyone willing to share what the rostering has been like ? Is it still 18/19 days of work in a 30/31 day month ? :?: Nothing has changed. SWOOP's LOU is in the process of being reformatted to match the rest of the...
Re: Hiring?
Thank you DaveP. I described the SWOOP interview process as experienced by the direct hires of 2018. As a FYI for other readers, if SWOOP is unable to attract the necessary talent, the LOU will be opened and subject to a vote by all WestJet pilots. Likely, the WestJet pilots will not vote for anythi...
Re: Hiring?
SWOOP's interview is now conducted by both WestJet and SWOOP.

Re: Hiring?
SWOOP will likely hire you for 737 FO, mainline not likely. SWOOP has already hired pilots in your circumstance. Our current CP was a TC inspector prior with several years out of the saddle. Grab your type rating, get current, then leave. There has never been, or likely will ever be, this opportunit...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
As an update, WestJet and SWOOP have separated recruitment. SWOOP remains confident and boasts that they've received a "strong response" regarding recruitment. Below are a few thoughts for new recruits. The 50 or so pilots who wish to bid back to WestJet will NOT be allowed on the next bid. Further,...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
SWOOP'S GEOGRAPHY PROBLEM Please allow me to comment on the myth that the business model of SWOOP will provide a good quality of life schedule. Most ULCC's operate on a roster consisting of sets of "mornings" or "evenings" and no overnights. This is a favorable point of a ULCC pilot. For example, a ...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
Watch everybody come back and attack this statement, truth as it is. Truth to you, luckily you are the minority :goodman: .....As for the comment about grey days and such, my sources on the ground say otherwise. It is clear that most of the guys that went to Swoop, did so under the false promises b...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
Yes, Donald! But make sure you tell them that it didn't go OTS. That's important. Winning. Positions should only be filled OTS if nobody already at the company bids for then. It’s not rocket surgery 🙄 WJ management WILL NOT upgrade an Encore FO onto a 737. NEVER. WON'T HAPPEN. Ever. Get that sh!t t...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
Cloak,
It is true that GREY DAYS are not in effect as the final draft of the LOU has yet to be completed.
However SWOOP's position is that the definition of a "day off" allows for GREY DAYS.
It is now another battle for ALPA to fight.
SWOOP FAs operate under GREY DAYS.

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
NEW DEVELOPMENT Given the crewing challenges that resulted in several cancellations as well as a costly charter, Swoop management is now implementing GREY DAYs into the LOU via their interpretation of the definition of a day off. A GREY DAY is a day off awarded but not requested as a day off. Flying...

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft
So when does OTS hiring for DEC resume? Will tbaylx be back? Or will low-time Encore pilots fill the left seat? Things are different now as the LOU has deteriorated from the original working conditions. Mainly, the former OTS CAs who left now lose their 12500$ annual bonus, resulting in 10% less co...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
Can you elaborate on this? Are these former WJ F/Os that went to Swoop for a Capt. position and now want to go back to being F/Os at WJ? If so, why? They're paid less and work more. An example of a FO with 4 years at WS on Step 5. Step 5 FO - 103$/hr, 20%ESP, Stock Options (5500$) profit share, Max...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
It is important to note that 50 or so Swoop pilots are screaming to get back to mainline to fill positions that are presently being filled by new hires. No one knows what the outcome will be. Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
Ok your right, However, if you bid to rouge 320 you are frozen to the 320 at rouge with no chance to bid 320 mainline. Again, Swoop is absolute shit. I don’t blame you for wanting to get out. But accepting a job at very subpar conditions that you were well aware of,in the hopes/attempt to get ahead...
