Re: One List

It would be interesting to see that survey by which the MEC created a mandate for itself to renegotiate the one list right after the first vote when it said specifically it wouldn't. Of course it said it to bear pressure on the pilots to pass it. Then it said the pilots "failed" to pass the resolut...

Re: One List

The reason why the last vote was rejected was mostly due to misinformation. The polling done afterward showed that the majority of people heard a rumour, didn't bother to read the proposal, and voted based on the rumour. Please do share. What was this rumour that caused me to vote the way I did? I’...

Re: One List

Keeping the value of our stock options post Onex takeover is now dependent on us voting yes to the new pilot transfer agreement. Great, tell your MEC that and don't use Encore as your leverage. Take a moment and think about the whole situation, and then I urge you to reconsider who/what is being us...

Re: One List

Or maybe it's the fact we don't like being threatened with a pay cut for voting no. Would you like to elaborate on that? Theres no way the new agreement is going to pass.
Why?
Because the mainline guys really want to stick it to the company by throwing all of Encore under the bus.

They haven't seen the offer and they don't care to. They are just looking for the easiest group to take it out on.

That's a load of horse crap. You are arguing that you are right to stab your coworkers in the back because others do it.

It's the age old, if your friend jumped off a bridge, would you?

Re: One List

Although for a period the one list leveraged pilots seniority at WestJet for recruitment at Encore, after certification and the continued divergence of experience level of the two companies, it cannot be continued. It cannot be continued? The majority of people entering mainline off the street have...

Re: Hiring outlook

This is quite possibly one of the dumbest posts here. Stay at Encore, work 18 days a month for low pay and get extended all the time to hopefully flow to the bottom of the list in 6 years and start over. Or go to jazz where they have a better contract and pay for a career. Yes you interview at AC m...

Re: Hiring outlook

Do yourself a favour, don't waste your time at Encore. You have better chance to be hired at AC or even WJ mainline if you fly for AC express. If you are flying 703, just stay where you are a bit longer, apply WJ mainline at 1500 hours and skip the whole Encore mess. There is absolutely no reason t...

WestJet slid of the runway in Calgary last week but it wasn't covered much.
WestJet didn't have gear collapse or have anyone on board filming the aircraft depart the runway.

Re: One List

Paying more won’t fix anything. Scenario. Encore starts paying their captains $150k a year. Upgrade time remains low at AC. Do you stay at Encore or go to AC? It’s all about the upgrade. Nothing to do with the money. Onex won’t want to merge the companies. I would rather get paid 150k a year, fly a...

Re: One List

At the end on the day you will need your employer on side for a single list or flow through. I very much doubt Onex will entertain anything that would make a possible sale of an asset more problematic. Good observation. Onex will likely have little appetite for merging WestJet and Encore which redu...

There are 0 1500 hour FOs at WestJet mainline.....
They are asking for a minimum of 1500 hours.

Can you guarantee that no mainline pilot was hired on at 1500 hours?

Re: One List

At this rate, I don't expect to hit mainline until I am at least 35. Ohh, noes! In the not-too-far-ago past, I ran into my initial PPL flight instructor in the concourse in YVR. He'd been at JAzz for ~5years at that point, and was looking at about the same before an upgrade, let alone a shot at mai...

Re: One List

Even without the one list, you’re seeing a mainline jet seat before the age of 25. Are you kidding me? I don't know of anyone who got on at Encore before 23. Even then, I only know ONE person who started flying when they were 16 and were lucky enough to be able to afford to fly and gain experience ...

Re: Upgrade Matrix

With the shortage of Captains, forecasted future hiring at AC and WestJet, etc will there be some leeway on the upgrade matrix? For example, Jazz upgrades tend to come pretty quick (as low as 6 months). A 1500 hour pilot at Encore would have to hit the hour requirement on the Q400 or wait 2 years. ...

Re: One List

After all the talk of pilot unity, Encore pilots feel abandoned and isolated. We don't feel like anyone is on our side, and we don't feel like we have a future with WestJet. Spot. Fucking. On. Re: 737 to 787 Upgrade Times

Once Onex takes over, it can fix all that by selling Encore and entering into a long term CPA which guarantees revenue for the new investors. If that's what you really think, you're not just deluded, you're an asshole. What you are proposing is to tell 500+ WestJet employees that they are less than...

Don't ask a question you don't want the answer to. If you haven't been at WestJet for fifteen years yet, you don't stand a chance. If you want to fly the 787, go to Air Canada. Re: Flairs troubles......

Lovely reporting with no substance, counter view are researched facts. There is not a judge anywhere that would force a company to continue providing service if it was not paid. The fact that the judge produced an order AND required KF to also pay legal costs is indicative of the fact that they had...

Re: Flairs troubles......

KF is throwing a petulant hissy fit and the fact they were ordered to pay Flair's court costs for wasting it's time, leads me to think the Kelowna crowd found a bored local reporter from where....Penticton was it?....to engineer a little smear job. There's a bit more to this that's not reported. No...
