Re: New Duty Regs

I think it might be wishful thinking to an extent. Some owners dialed back their flying to pure 604 and kept their two pilots. Others bumped up the charter availability to justify having the 3rd guy. It's like a box of chocolates...

Re: Oopsies...maybe that YKF-YVR red-eye isn't the best idea

OK, maybe the return leg was a redeye, but so what?....assuming you were well rested because you knew the sked ahead of time.
Why is this even a discussion?
Exactly this. Airlines and cargo operators have been doing this for decades and continue to do so safely.

Re: Recruiting and Retention Bonus

The bonus scheme is exactly that - bonus after 3 years. Effectively it means we are earning an extra $16,000 plus a year so what is there to complain about?
Must be some good kool aid you guys have over there!

Enough with the spam in this forum already. ALPA will do as they please with this merger as they always do. Go outside and enjoy some fresh air.

Re: 15% of Flights Cancelled Through January 31

Good thing the company did not agree to MOA4 and felt that furloughing a further ~400 pilots would save money!

Re: Calin is retiring February 2021

While I'm sure he "appreciated us" and all our "contributions" to the success of the share price, we were never respected . We exposed our "professional underbelly" far more than any CEO should have ever seen it in a lifetime, let alone a single decade. I agree with Ripple. I'm not sure why pilots ...

Re: Morningstar

Sure, that's totally possible. The problem is that a blanket statement of "we're not taking airline guys" means that they won't look too hard at anyone's cover letter after reading that the applicant is on furlough. But what do I know, it's their company and they can run it however they please.

Re: Morningstar

I can certainly see how on one hand they don't want to invest their time in someone who will leave as soon as they are recalled back to AC or WS, but do they not realize that the same thing will happen to 704/705 lite captains who will go back to wherever they were making good $$$ prior? While a job...

Unfortunately, they don't even want to interview guys like me.
With all of the applications they received, I wouldn't be surprised if they're still sorting resumes.

There are turboprop companies in Canada that pay 130k CA/ 70k FO for first year drivers?

Re: Everyone’s talking about it...

Canadian aviation was different back when 3000 hours could barely score you an interview with Jazz. Experienced guys are retiring and the bottom line isn't enough to keep the average where it was back then. Is experience dropping across the board? Absolutely. Do you think the ever expanding AC and W...

Re: Skylink Planes

How many times have I heard skylink going missed off the NDB 06 @ YHM because of the ILS being down, or doing the arc into YSB and holding everyone else up. Probably not as many times as I’ve heard Jazz or Encore going missed at 300 OVC on the ILS, or going all the way to the RNAV on other side of ...

Re: Skylink Planes

Oh boy. You dinosaurs are so set in your ways it's not even funny. Is it possible to do NDB approaches and navigate your entire 14 hour day via VORs? The answer should be yes to anyone that holds a current IFR ticket. Being able to do so proficiently is another story. How many times have I heard sky...

Get a gig flying meat bombs around, or even survey/pipeline. Those should get you to 500 easily before the end of the summer.

Seems like it's the single engine FO minimum for medevacs in Ontario. Twins look for at least 1000 TT with mpic depending on where you go.
