Re: Conair

Thank you for all the intel, that’s pretty valuable. I guess I’ll wait to see what this new contract brings but I’ll definitely keep it in the back of my mind. I fully expect it to be busy during the summer. Fires don’t care about your schedule so it’s 100% understandable. I appreciate the long resp...

Re: Conair

Any news on what Conair is like nowadays for pilots? Schedule, pay, base, benefits? Overall moral? Would someone with thousands of hours on a Q400 (and above 5K total) be able to go straight on it? Or would he require to go on the birddogs first? Also, if zero hours on amphib but willing to get the ...

Re: Hiring process estimated time

Wow, Air Canada is really scraping the bottom for experience, all the while pilots with double or three times the experience at jazz have been waiting over 6 months. Talk about a flawed system. Count yourselves lucky and be patient with the process, as you could have applied over a year ago and sti...

Re: ‘‘Twas the night before ALPA

That means that an Encore Q400 first year FO is making around $85 more per year in base salary than an Air Canada 777 first officer. Good for him. In his fifth year, that 777 F/O will make about $180K/yr. How’s that Encore F/O doing? In his 12th year, that 777 F/O will make about $263K/yr. (85 hrs ...

Re: Bumping passengers for crew

The only time a J class passenger will be bumped is for a deadheading crew member. It should not be happening as these seats should have been reserved by operation. Unfortunately, Air Canada being…well…Air Canada… has been failing at planning properly and had some issues lately forcing them to bump ...

Re: bumping first class passengers for deadhead crew

A true professional will allow the passenger to hold his J class sheet and take hie seat in the back you guys fly all the time a paying pastor who reserved J in advance is may be traveling to three times a year max and does it for the experience and you’re mocking that person you guys really are sh...

Re: Flair reciprocal jumpseat

Typical WestJet though, they are willing to do anything to avoid fixing the actual problem. They used to laugh at Flair and now their pilots are going there. Instead of actually trying to keep their pilots by providing industry standard WAWCON, they remove a reciprocal jumpseat agreement which liter...

Re: Announced routes

it BETTER be about the shareholders ! Call up all the management of the equities in your TFSA and RRSP and tell them you want less returns on your investments. You're just a greedy 1%er. Canada should have a flat income. Whatever your profession, all income should be the same. Or at the least a gua...

Re: Equipment by base

WB FOs would be on reserve for a while. Often people do their time on other aircraft and then when they have enough seniority and can make enough cash being a WB FO they move onto these positions. Getting a WB in PIT is nice if you want to fly big planes and get international experience but unfortun...

Look at the picture I attached (not the one from MH). And I personally know 2 of them, you can take my word for it but one of them was actually a nationally elected ACPA (P4C) guy until recently. Must be your memory then… That’s okay, mine isn’t what it used to be either, I woke up this morning not ...

Re: Be Ready

Ok I'm calling the bluff on this one. WHEN in the history of Canadian aviation has one pilot group stepped up in support of another in a strike, let alone from a competing airline. The management teams know this, count on this and revel in the knowledge of. PLEASE, PLEASE someone prove me wrong, PL...

Re: YYZ 757 Lifestyle and Pay

There is no bond anymore. Pros: - Pay is pretty good. - Plane is great. - Schedule release (when on time) is earlier than most 705s. - Great group of people including the chief pilot(s)/training. Approachable and down to earth. - You’ll (EXTREMELY) rarely wait for a gate and you have nothing to do o...

Re: Very odd

I started there as a KA FO in 1998 with 3000 hours at $19000.00 which, in today's dollars, is around $33000.00. Yes, that's a bit of an improvement. What was a cost of home back then? I did adjust for inflation. Also, today a 500 hour pilot gets the job, not a 3000 hour pilot. Unfortunately officia...

With the eastern base closing, encore doesnt really go into large international routes anymore. Re: MOA

There is no requirement for the company o come back for MOA #2 and having experience with them, they will most likely say f*** it and wait until the negotiations. The raises offered are nowhere near enough to keep people on site and/or attract anybody. That died with the « one list ». The only FOs E...
