Re: FOAG 2025
This has been an incredibly disappointing benchmark. Porter is trying to become a major airline without compensating their pilots accordingly. It's not just the salary. It's a lack of pension. Lack of benefits. The fact that any of these improvements can be clawed back just because. I'm still here b...

Porter decided to wait longer. Benchmark should be around Christmas now. I guess the longer they push it, the more money they save

Re: It’s Time - Back on track
Even if this benchmark is relatively "good", why shouldn't we unionize as well. Why are some people treating this like it's one or the other. Personally, I'm not expecting much (I'm on the dash), but I'm hoping for a good benchmark. And if it is a good benchmark, then great, let's get the union goin...

Re: Dash FO to captain upgrade time
Dash captains make $1/hr more than an E2 fo. So it's essentially the same and personally I wouldn't take on the added work of a dash captain if I could make the same as an E2 fo. Keep in mind that there is no yos at Porter, so you could go for example yr3 fo making $115/hr to a yr1 captain making $1...

government favors corps over people Lol ya I know that. I meant more along the lines of how it is legal. Denying the right to strike is pretty heavy handed. I'm more wondering HOW it's happening, and with apparently no repercussions The repercussions exist, the process to right the wrongs is just s...

Just wondering if someone can clarify for me. Why is a strike by the pilot group essentially impossible? I thought striking was a right that we had as Canadians as long as we aren't an essential service. Yet we've seen it thwarted with the rail employees, we sort of saw it with the teachers union, ...

Starting pay $87.48?! That's what, 78k?
Why would ALPA even show this to the pilots? This is an absolute joke. DISGUSTING. Strike (temporarily) averted, and I'm sure the execs are popping the champaign right now.
This CANNOT be approved by the pilots. Stay strong. Know your worth.

Re: Strike vote
Wasn't it the Ontario teachers who stayed on strike after being ordered back to work? 2022, if I'm remembering correctly. That's what I remember as well. They continued to strike after being (illegally) ordered back to work. I'm glad they had the balls to do it. I'm an outsider looking in here (I'm...

Re: Q400 Ground School Schedule?
3 weeks gs in YTZ Mon - Fri, then 3 weeks sim at flight safety. Possibly some observer flights or time off in-between depending on sim availability.
If you're hired for YTZ base (most people), Porter will NOT cover hotels, per diem, transportation, etc.

Re: D8 - 36 hour layovers?
Depends on the pairing. If you check in early day one, and check out late on day three, you're going to have some really high credit because of the longer days. My last standover was total 17 credit. If you have the opposite (late check-in day one, early check-out day three) then you have more time ...

Re: D8 - 36 hour layovers?
It's like the splits. Some people love them, some people hate them, some are indifferent. The people that hate them will be the loudest about it. Personally, I actually really enjoy the day in the hotel; they're my favourite pairings

Re: DEC E2. Still hiring OTS?
Well they're definitely not filling up internally, I can guarantee that.
Hiring has slowed for the short term on the jet though. The engine issues are the culprit. It'll pick back up when that problem is resolved, Porter is still buying a lot of jets

Just for more clarity though, the company only transfers Dash captains to the jet at 3 per month. So unless you have seniority, it'll be a looong time until moving over.

Re: Example Schedule (again)
Is this on the Dash? Or E2? What made it so different compared to last year, if on the Dash? And if on the E2, how long did it take you to upgrade ? Have you been there a while? Thank you! I'm on the Dash. There's been a large amount of captains leaving, creating a snowball effect. QOL drops, so pe...

I'm a junior captain. So far I'm working every day except my GDOs. The qol is garbage right now and it's making me question if upgrading at Porter was the right choice. I swear I'm generally a pretty positive guy, but seeing how good it was at Porter just one year ago compared to now makes me upset...

Ya that's the sentiment I'm hearing from a lot of people right now. I've had a few friends contact me for information about applying, but decide against Porter because of the pay. Not a good look for the company at all. Apparently there will be a pay increase for the Q drivers by the end of July, bu...
