Re: Beren's Band roasts air ambulance service in the media
Pretty short article. Not much to see here. Are we really to believe that this is the first time in recorded history the community of Beren's River needed a medevac after dark? Seriously? Every system has its limitations. A medevac program can do some things, not all. The guy expired 150 mins after ...

Turbofan Icing Protection?
I used ze search, no joy. I'm probably missing something obvious here, but this is bugging me: are turbofan blades heated or something? I mean the fan stage at the front; it's ahead of any heat being generated, it's got thin leading edges moving fast. Prop blades are deiced. show me how I'm dumb.......

Re: Notation on approach plate help?
Nope. The PT is right of IB track when you are outbound from BIPRA. Whadda dog's breakfast... The whole problem is because the IF is not at YOW but at ALSIP. So you need to be at 3000 till past ALSIP, aaaand stay there if you choose to do the full proc. till the PT is complete. Except sector is lowe...

Ha. 14k. Probably not many who'd walk out on that. The jets still around? What's that bond worth? When I was there, and this was more than 5 years ago mind you, the maint, CP and OM were good and the turn over was steady. They based people full time in YFB, which explains the turn over and hence the...

I think the thing about 'Vampire' s is that they are supposed to be supernaturally fast and silent killers.

Lyc 540 Conversion for U206
I see the new model 206's come with the Lyc IO-540 now.
Search here and on NICO yields nothing. So there probably is nothing, but I have to ask:
Anyone ever heard of such a thing? Converting a U206 F or G from the Con 520 over to a Lyc 540?
Thanks.

Re: What is a pilot really worth?
Col Sanders and TheSuit FTW!! We're talking about 'value' here as something that everyone agrees on. 'value' in your own head is completely irrelevant. Any one of you can put any value you want on anything and it is meaningless until you try and trade to get/give it. The 'value' of a pilot is precis...

@ipilot54: ALL bonds, at least all gov't and large corporate bonds, get sold that way. The primary market sells only to investors that can handle large fractions of the issue. They will certainly in turn put those out on the secondary market if you have a burning desire to be owed money by ORNGE/Gov...

Hey Doc. I don't think this needs to raise operating expenses that much at all, assuming we just took over a company that was at least a little profitable (and if it wasn't, then we are retarded for mortgaging our homes or whatever to buy the crap thing). We took this outfit over right? Why would we...

Re: Why Must We Call FSS (while IFR)
Good Luck on that.
NavCanada is closing Towers, not to mention manned FSS's as much as they can.
I don't mean that they're necessarily the villain here, just that approaches to this hazard that require increased ground manning and infrastructure are not going to make the top of the list.

-35 and I can't be arsed. Feck. Yes you can put winter fronts on. Whatever. Early in the winter all that ambient moisture in switches, cables whatever will freeze. Solenoids don't work. Those little limit switches in the flaps, good luck. Even if they do work, just wince as they laboriously eke thei...

Re: UA Pilot spills coffee diverts to YYZ and media is dumb
KA200. IFR in climb. F/O and I contrived to spill most of a cup of coffee into the control head of a pedestal-mounted AP. After 10 seconds of mopping and wondering if that was going to cause problems, the A/C pitched up and rolled 30 deg. The AP did not disengage so fully depress AP disconnect switc...
