Local pilot. The article is mistaken. The pilot is not in the hospital, he is ok.

Re: The...first oil change!

Stay away from 15W50 in the TCM 520's. Otherwise you have more leaks, and if you have an "classic" type starter adapter, it is more likely to slip. W100 in the summer and W65 in the winter were we operate. But then again, not everybody gets do enjoy the cold temps that we do :D

Re: N.W.T. Forest fire destroys homestead on Great Slave Lak

He did have a sprinkler system set up by the gov. after the fire started. 80 km winds and a big fire are hard to slow down with a sprinkler.

A huge loss for a great family.

Give your self at least a year, maybe two. Depends how organized you are and what the staffing level at your local TC office is like.

Found Aircraft

Went to order some Bush Hawk parts today and was told the company is in receivership and so can not fill the order. Anyone have news regarding if and when they will open again?

Re: New Digital online or disc manuals unreadable

the technology has already been invented. I'm not sure why no one seems to be improving their manuals. So far the best IPC (though still far from perfect) is the found bushawk. Its legible, its free online and a large portion of it is in colour.

Re: who got there start in CYFS over the years

By CYFS I'm sure you mean CET4 since there aren't any companies based at the MOT. Been there many times though I have never been based there. I fly the red and white 172 flying in from the south with a tool box for a quick 50 hour and no snags :)

Re: Modified turbo 206 advice

Just a side note for that Robertson stol. Make sure the plane has a seaplane rudder. With the small rudder installed, the wing can fly before you have air rudder authority on takeoff.

Re: Safety Alert - Adoption of Floatplane Safety Best Practi

We were told that dispite the ammendment to CAR551 we could not use Mustang PFDs because of the definition of a PFD in CAR101. They need to be a little more organized.

Great idea. Except I would suggest you ammend the criteria a little. There are a few good bush operators who either don't have two float planes or don't have a DHC product.

Here's to a new season and a new job.

Just picked up that first elusive comercial flying job. The snow has finally stopped and the sun is out. The flying is great and the view of the Kluane Range out the living room window is pretty nice too.

Here is a toast to flying safe and taking the time to enjoy each moment.

Top Gun,

What kind of maintenance experiance do you have? I may have just the job for you: maintenance on small aircraft and a bit of 703 flying to keep it interesting. Send me a PM with your resume if you are interested.

Beaver Fixer, If you cann't buy it cheaper else where then why not buy it from spruce?

As for the 8130, its not necessary as long as you have the conformity certificate (Statement on the invoice)

Re: Cessna 180

Be wary of the mogas stc. If you use much mogas you will end up with sticking valves. Also if you put a newly overhauled engine in, you will be hard pressed to find a shop that will offer any warrenty after you have used mogas.

Re: 206 maintenance

The rear bolt on the nose gear drag base bends and breaks. Just turn the head with a wrench and make sure the nut turns too. Also, watch out for cracked gear blocks, if the plane lands on rough strips or has big tires.

PSMA at CEN3 have had one up and running for about 6 months now. I hear they are pretty happy with it so far, though it does have some room for improvement. Haven't been back there to use it myself though.

Maybe I am uninformed but, if the tools are built to a standard I don't see any reason why that would be a problem. SMS or otherwise.
