I believe there is more to the story than that. He has rumoured to be heading over to DH. Let the good Times roll

Re: Support Westjet AME's

There's no way it's going that high.....but - food for thought. A 20% increase puts the top wage in the mid to high 50's which I think is doable. Air Canada's contract comes up mid next year and you can bet they will leapfrog this contract. Wages could be on the verge of going up quite a bit here i...

Re: Support Westjet AME's

As Pat Richard said, “ There is no way they will be able to keep the airline going doing scab maintenance.” I honestly do think we are setting up for the perfect storm. If Heavy Aero can’t maintain the aircraft they will need To call back the staff from the Picket line ASAP. This could be the perfec...

Re: Support Westjet AME's

I got the call to scab from heavy aero. I told them to go pound sand. These boys are fighting for our wages and Canadian aviations future. Heavy Aero is trying to put us back in the Stone Age.

Heavy Aero Maint Center.

Has anyone seen the ads lately for them. They are offering people type courses as contractors to work short time for them.

What is going on there these days.

Re: Convert EASA B1.3 to AME

I fully concur with the above statement. Canada at this moment has one of the highest house prices and lowest house inventory in the G7 nations. Unless you have previous property here, it will be a nightmare to find a place to rent, and with the interest rate, it will be a nightmare to buy. The conv...

every day, Heavy Aero adds 5 ads for jobs. Absolutely ridiculous. These multiple spamming companies should be banned. Clearly there is a reason why nobody wants to work there.

Yes, they are a contract type agency and also do their own in-house maintenance also (they have an AMO). Very decent staff and company management at heavy aero. Great to deal with highly recommend.

I think this guy is learning the bare minimum on type aircraft to apply for contract jobs.

I’m guessing :PAL, AAR 3 rivers.

At one point they use to take only endorsed engineers. Now it’s all to the lowest bidder.

Hopefully post covid Things change around.

Re: AME M1 average apprenticeship length

Just like you stated the minimum amount of time to met the licensing requirements in the cars Is 48 months. Always comes down to your logbook and TC auditor. My recommendation is n/a any tasks that are not applicable to your AMO. Try and complete 70% of each chapter. Some TC auditors interpret the r...

Re: Regarding AME Shortage

I didn’t see that in schooling unfortunately. The school weeds out these kinds of people by year two anyways. I went to canadore and these farm type people didn’t make it through! Just making mention of what I see in the field and I have worked with a bunch of Ames from all over since I contract. I’...

Re: Carry-thru spar corrosion

Unfortunately Ames are like car mechanics. There’s a tone of good ones and bad ones. You really wanna find someone who specializes On a few aircraft instead of a GA guy. I have found numerous issues related to SBs snd ADS for cracking / corrosion ect that jack of all trades ame miss. Good luck on th...

Journey log stays on aircraft.

Rest of records are kept in a safe place. As per CARS.

Re: Carry-thru spar corrosion

I agree with pilotdar.

Another to add if prep of paint is poor it will seal and eventually bubble with corrosion.

Use ACF50. Check on periodically as next time it corrodes it will be expensive!

Regards.

Re: Regarding AME Shortage

I have worked all over Canada and the world fixing aircraft. I have done start ups, rescues, consulting ect.. In my opinion there’s a shortage of highly skilled not lazy AMES. Certain provinces produce better AMES. I find in sask, alberta it’s more of a farm mentality and lots of oppies happen from ...

Pelican contract boxes

Hey all! So I recently ditched my pelican 450WD and 1620 for a pelican air 1637. It’s 50% lighter then the non air versions of similar size. Does anyone have any input on the pelican airs for how they hold up after many year (S)? They seem decent but I’ve only had it a few months. Seems to be holdin...

Fixing aircraft takes your 100% focus and attention as you can’t pullover on the side of the road to fix it, that being said sorry to hear about your situation. Especially at this time. did they follow protocol to fire you? You said you spent 2 years there. So they should need 3 letters on your file...

The way we were always told from TC is that 6/24 would be full time hours, so 40 hrs a week. So roughly 1040 hrs is 6 months.
