Re: iphone apps

Has anyone with the 4g on Telus or Rogers unlocked their phone? If so, how has it worked so far? I need an Iphone 4 but I'm not excited about paying the $800 for an unlocked one from apple.

Try the university of Athabasca. I am currently taking some courses there and they are a lot less expensive than Embry riddle. http://www.mba.athabascau.ca/titanweb/a ... endocument

Re: YYC Rant.

YYC has now restricted the amount of movements to 28 per hour. They say that this will not change until the new parallel runway is built. There also seems to be problems with communication between the TMU and the Area control center.

Re: A PhD in Aviation?

A PhD won't help anyone land their first job. However, I don't see anything wrong with pursuing education in the field you work in. I have a friend doing the Graduate degree program there, part time by correspondence, and he really enjoys it. I think it's great that they offer courses specific to ou...

Does anyone have an idea of what changes will occur on the Medevac side of things now that they are sold? Will the planes and crews be staying in Montreal and Toronto?

Re: Missinippi Air Now Requires Training Bond

Why would you need sick days if you are running an air ambulance service into some of the least healthy communities in Canada??? Now you are pretty much asking staff to fly while they are sick. This puts pilots and medical staff at very high risk of contracting or spreading illnesses to or from the ...

Re: Type ratings: seat specific?

The type rating is for the aircraft. If you do a SIC type rating (right seat ride) it does not qualify you as PIC on the aircraft. According to TC they expect higher standards from guys doing a PIC ride. I guess those standards are at the discretion of the examiner.

Re: Missinippi Air Now Requires Training Bond

You are a tight group of pilots at Missinippi. They were unable to hire from the outside before and they certainly won't be able to know with the bond. Stick together and the bond will dissapear. It's just management trying to see what they can get away with. A few years back per diems were taken aw...

Re: Closest IFR airport to Revelstoke

Any longterm predictions for this airport? It seems like there will have to be some way of bringing the masses in here to fund all the developement they are planning. Can't say that I'll be complaining if they don't. I never had to wait in a lift line the whole week I was there.

There's a reason company's charge more for offstrip. It is a lot harder on the aircraft. Things occasionally get bent. Beats the hell out of flying pavement to pavement tho.

Try any of those pilot supply stores. There's a few models, some cancel the music when there is other radio calls, the simple ones don't. Or do it 'ol skool' and put the ear bud up to the backside of the mic and secure it with the ring that keeps the muff on. Rock on!

Owikeeno is pretty nice I think about 3000ft. Eagle air, out of Hardy, was taking the ho in there quite a bit.
