Re: United, Delta or American?
If ou live in Canada and work in the states, you will have to file taxes in both countries. Hiring a cross border accountant is very expensive. US/Canada cross border taxes are very complicated. If you're a green card holder living in Canada, US immigration will take it away if they find out you are...

Re: Sunwing hiring update
As a DEC at Flair, how many FOs are you bypassing? The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Flair will hustle to make money too. When AC sucks everyone up and Flair starts working the remaining guys to fatigue by violating the CBA, the grass won't be so green anymore. Don't let anger and fr...

Re: Sunwing hiring update
I wonder how many cadets the company is taking in this year. No one on the line, union, or company has mentioned anything about the cadet program.

Re: Sunwing hiring update
Why choose Swoop over the rest? Glorified regional airline. Don't like the type of flying. Been there done that. More work, not much pay. To each their own. Why choose Flair over the rest? Same as swoop and a big gamble. Why choose Porter over the rest? We'll have to wait and see what the jet bring ...

Re: Sunwing hiring update
Things aren't that bad. Relax. Lots of people still like it here. There's a reason a majority of sunwing pilots don't go on the union message board. And that because it's a constant b**** fest by the same half a dozen or so guys. Yes there is room for improvement and management as it's faults and fa...
Re: DEC
Well it sounds like some junior pilots did get a quick upgrade if the award reached the bottom. Im curious to know how many got bypassed. Getting bypassed isn't something new at WG considering it a seniority/matrix/merit system. I wonder if WG is trying to maximize the amount of TUI and Smartwings w...

Re: Pilot shortage …? Reality or fake news ..
There is definitely a pilots shortage. One thing we don't talk about is how big fleet numbers have become. Even before major airline mergers, the sum of the two airlines didn't equal what they are today. Commercial airline fleet numbers have exploded in the past two decades. SWA 700+ Delta 800+ Unit...

Re: Sunwing hiring update
Well..I guess that Sunwing will have to do without my services. Sent this to Ms.Furtado today: "Hi, Nancy, After some thought, and consultation with my spouse, I’m writing to cancel my interview with Sunwing. Simply put, your starting salary will not enable me to meet my financial obligations to my...

The new pay scale better be good. Apparently Sunwing received a lot of résumé from Flair pilots.

Re: Sunwing/Westjet
Keep it all separate. No seniority list merger. Do away with Swoop and absorb the pilots into Westjet and Encore. Sunwing will do all the sun destination flying. There is no point in two carriers under the same company flying routes down south to the same places. Onex bought Sunwing Vacation and Sun...

Re: Party time on Sunwing!
Jumping up and down on the floor boards, standing on seats, and arm rest potentially causing damage to the aircraft is not acceptable behaviour. They all should know better. A commercial airliner is not a night club on a cruise ship. Drinking your own alcohol on board and vaping is also not allowed....

Shoe recommendation
What's a durable all season uniform dress shoe or boot you recommend that won't get torn up in the flight deck? Something that will last a few years.

Work for Atlas and have no life. Enjoy you shit quality of life going on 17 day pairings with extensions into your days off flying patterns around the world and sitting reserve in random hotels for days somewhere along their route network.. You'll hate it.

Re: Pilot Shortage
Anyone with seniority will not budge for a while. This situation proves how valuable seniority it when it comes to getting back to work quicker. Sometimes slow a steady wins the race.
There will definitely be a more intense shortage.
