Re: Falcon 20

$52k is much higher than the cost of an initial course on a Falcon 20 even with hotels and per diems etc.

Re: Where do you even start?

Most corporate flight departments do require a lot of time. This is something you can't get around. The bigger the faster the better. Your sched run sounds like its helping you in that respect. DA900 is right, Sunwest or North Cariboo would be a great place to go. It may take you a while to get on a...

Re: How are things looking for this winter?

Try Sunwest. Its a good spot, you'll fly lots and in the long run the money isn't bad either. I saw F/O spots advertised on here very recently.

mmmm Oban. Love that stuff. A cheaper alternative is Glenmorangie that is all good. Where do you buy your Oban? The cheapest I've seen is $52 US.

Re: Flight level 23oh!

Its tough to talk "standards of the profession" when people are whoring themselves out, working for free buying PPCs etc. It is part and parcel of the same problem. Most don't give a shit in North America, it would seem a different profession to our brothers in Europe.

Re: Best watch?

Seiko Sportura. There is a big price difference within the line so you can spend what you want. Its really easy to change time zones and will display two at the same time ie. the zone you are in and GMT. It has a crystal face so it won't scratch and is waterproof.

Re: which oppotunity u would choose?

YVR is great but as mentioned very pricey. I imagine your friends and family are all in your home province, it would be much easier to stay in your own province instead of move accross the country. Can you postpone a response to the offer and call the place you have an interview to speed the process...

Re: Invermere BC, flying for a beginner

Foo, Invermere is a great place to fly. I believe iflyforpie is refering to Babin Air, they have been around for years and would be a great place to rent from. It may be in the middle of the Rockies but if you are there to fly you can easily get to Calgary or Vancouver for a change of pace. The expe...

$100M? They are about $30M new so even if all three blew up $100M is a stretch isn't it? Maybe that figure accounts for lost revenue as well as the spiralling costs of duct tape and glue. Re-read it, $100M total value, that makes more sense. Need more coffee...

Static, I couldn't help notice your very strong reactions to what has been posted. Earlier in this thread it was mentioned that this type of behaviour had been going on for months and this was not an isolated event. Surely you knew, and by knowingly letting it continue with your strong convictions i...

Re: What's going on?

Every one of us at one time or another had 200hrs so obviously there are operators out there that will hire someone with that amount of time. Given the number of jobs that are out there for experienced guys it stands to reason there are jobs available for those with less experience to replace them. ...

Good people. Decent benefits. Bag run no fun, burns guys out fast. Pay has gone up in an attempt to stem the huge exodus of pilots and it seems to be working. Per diems are are a respectable $72 a day. If you stay, progression is good and moving from a turbo-prop to a jet is not out of reach any mor...

Re: April 7th course

Hard I assume because there will be no one with a lower number until the fall? From what was said earlier with the attrition hiring over the next few years (400 over the next 3 years I think) hopefully it will be a fairly short wait, and well worth the short term pain.

The grass is always greener on the other side. I've moved many times thinking that it would be the last. But it never is. Hauling my wife around and now two kids... Being away all the time does take its toll and I never really feel satisfied. I've wondered what it would be like to be you Rob, in the...
