Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

I know three who left Jazz with under approx 2000 hours and less than a year with the company, one less than 6. First it was 1000hrs, then 1500 now just under 2000. Do I hear 2500? Seriously though, I'm saying I personally haven't heard of 1500-2000 hrs guys being hired here, and was told at a prev...

Re: DOH merge.

Well, there is also another group affected. Those who decided to stick it out at an Express carrier because they were told that was the "way to AC," finally made it to mainline in the last year after AC decided hiring Westjet pilots instead for a whole summer two years ago was a better idea... Now ...

I hope so.

I'm just really on edge because I don't like uncertainty.
Try going through 9/11, recessions and layoffs like many of us have. It's the nature of aviation unfortunately.
Yeah, fair enough.

Re: DOH merge.

I think everyone is getting worked up over nothing. I don't think they will merge the company. At least not with Mainline. Maybe with Rouge but that was a risk they took when they left Mainline for Rouge so they can not cry foul too much about that. They can't. Why do you people keep saying it? htt...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

I don't know of any 1500 hr hires at TS. Even if there were, you should know AC has hired 1500 hr pilots from Jazz, GGN and SR, including at least 1 or 2 that were told once they have their ATPL they'll get the next spot (PML 1.0). Even on 2.0 there were many in the 1500-2000 hr range. If you chose...

Are you sure? I'm pretty confident I know a guy who was here on a student visa and did a modular program.

Re: DOH merge.

AT brings in wide body airplanes as well. A mix of senior and junior people. Senior people flying AT widebody will most likely be flying widebody after the merger, but they brought "their" own planes. So no AC pilot is negatively affected. Junior people at AT will slide in on the junior spots at AC...

Re: DOH merge.

I feel for you Express guys and also all the Transat guys that have already switched to AC who effectively flushed their seniority down the toilet if DOH goes through. Nice to know at least some people care. I just hope those at the top who control where negotiations go don't forget about us.... Si...

Re: Time for Transat pilot future poll

nd The AC/Cdn merger left everyone with a bad taste in their mouth because it was the forced marriage of two failing businesses that watched their combined market share dwindle. It's noteworthy that no pilots who lived through it have commented here, they've moved on, it was nearly two decades ago....

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

What about the fact that AC has a file on the vast majority of AT pilot because they applied there and were not chosen to be hired. These pilot that were deem not acceptable at the time are suddenly going to be given no interview job at AC, something not even AC Express get? Not to mention the doze...

Re: DOH merge.

How is this difficult to understand? The money is in bigger airplanes. Someone who gets 500 people on top of him in the seniority list might never see WB captain spot due to the way demographics works against him. Or he will see it for fewer years. AT brings in wide body airplanes as well. A mix of...

Re: Time for Transat pilot future poll

If I remember what I was told a while ago some were relative seniority, some DOH formula and then the bottom 8:1.

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

People made the choice to go to a company with fast upgrades and therefore also took on the risk. If someone at AT has 25 years of seniority and is a 330 skipper, by all means they should have 25 years and be able to bid the same or similar. If someone took the Jr upgrade at year 6-10 at AT and slid...

Not gonna happen, but what if Delta buys AC, how should that merger go. 3000 pilots vs 15000.
Date of hire. It really doesn't get much simpler than that.

Re: DOH merge.

Most of the AC pilots I have spoken to expect all TS pilots to go bottom of the list as per their collective agreement. Has this ever happened in any merger in North America? Anywhere? No. Most AC pilots are extremely selfish and it's the reason pay and working conditions lag so far behind the rest...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

I didn't invent it and I'm not married to it, but if I was forced to bet, this is where I'd put my money. A top TS Capt has way more than 15 years. The airline is 32 years old. So if there are any 30+ year TS Captains I imagine they deserve fairly high seniority after a merge. Tell me what you thin...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

Relative seniority works when you're merging two groups of similar size, not with a 3000+ group with 600. I don't see it happening. In this one instance only, size doesn't matter. So in your opinion a top A330 Captain who's been at AT for 15 years should slot in with 25-30 year pilots at AC? Pilots...

Re: DOH merge.

I heard their position is all AT CAs go to AC 330 CA seniority levels. I understand junior CAs at AT are under 10 year seniority and as low as 5 year seniority. Expecting to merge at a 25-35 year seniority level? I hope that is just BS rumour stuff. But yes that would certainly start a war. Force A...

Re: AC offer AT $13 per share

DOH won't happen. BOTL won't happen. Relative seniority. You'll hold your approximate percentile. Read your history. CIRB will decide for you if you can't and the result will be Relative Seniority. That's what happened with AC/CA and also with C3/Royal/Canjet. No dog in the race, but I would like t...
