Re: CARGO ATTENDANT TO F.O POSITION
I'm one of the few who managed to start "from the ground" and work my way up with Air Canada to hold a pilot position. It was a great part-time job as an aviation enthusiast, and as it turned out gave my employer 10 years of company work history to help make their decision as to whether or not to hi...

Re: AC buying/bought AT
Short of eliminating the competition for rouge, and picking up more A330s for mainline, I dont see a logical benefit at all.
As for an established tour/vacation operator....check that they already have; Air Canada Vacations.

Re: New YVR Hanger
Not sure the rumor of WS taking over ACs south hanger is accurate....the building is owned by Air Canada (land leased from YVR) ... so unless AC is selling or leasing it directly to WS, I don't see it happening. Never say never though.

Isn't this a question you could ask your Chief Pilot/Fleet Manager or Instructor? ... Probably a better source (in theory) than a public forum IMO. Good luck.

Re: YVR for New Hires
Timing is everything as they say. Hired six years ago I could not get YVR base for almost 3 years ... And commuted for those three years. Nowadays I see the bottoms 10 YVR EMJ FOs all with less than 1 year seniority. The YVR-YYZ commute while long, is relatively easy. Lots of flights...lots of wideb...

I believe the first two 767-300 fins going to Red are the youngest ex-Hawaiian birds. Both aircraft are circa 2003. Their dispatch reliability in theory should be decent.

Re: Commuting out of YYC?
Just spoke with a newer YVR EMJ FO who commutes home to YYC (6 months seniority) works 15-16 days a month....usually gets 4-6 YYC layovers at home....and commutes day of most of the time. Apparently usually only has to pay for 1-2 overnights in YVR....at the Delta which is where most guys stay....un...

In this particular case the bilateral allows PR to operate between Canada and select points in the US (they chose LAS) ... In exchange Canada's designated carrier (Canadian at the time) was given 5th freedom traffic rights between Hong Kong and Manila. At the time of the merger CP operated 4 times w...

The Inability to load containers on Boeings/C-series is really a non issue. The pallet size (limited by the door) on the Bus is quite small...these pallets are not interchangeable with the wide-body ones. Although I've seen it on occasion, there are very few small bus cargo pallets loaded at AC. The...

Re: Hey Calin, read this........
Unfortunately in my experience the "US VERSUS THEM" attitude is even more prevalent from the ACPA leadership and a number of its' members. No doubt that a large corporate entity such as Air Canada needs to work on its' employee relations in order to improve moral ... however in my experience I can s...

Re: SELF-DESTRUCT -- PRESS
AC will start a Low Cost whether the employee group likes it or not. It's really irrelevant whether we like the idea or not. At this stage in the game (FOS) the most important thing is to get that flying. TA1 is better than what's coming down the pipe from whether there is an LCC or not. Look at Qan...

Re: SELF-DESTRUCT -- PRESS
Not true, since TA1 was rejected every Air Canada pilot could have held A320 FO on any of the equipment bids. In fact, the past bid (11-03) had A320 FO vacancies unfilled in YUL, YYZ, and YVR. ...everyone could have held it...but most chose not too...hence there are 16 pilots at present with less t...

Re: SELF-DESTRUCT -- PRESS
Status quo or TA1? I'll take the TA1 thank you very much. An instantaneous uplift of pay of $23,000 a year before taxes for a person in my seniority range/equipment type and the prospect of quicker advancement and pay increase thanks to ACPA pilots flying any future LCC. For me...the status quo will...

Re: SELF-DESTRUCT -- PRESS
Yes you are right.
At present the 320 pays a fair bit more if you are able to hold it during years 3 & 4. (in the 80s)
Keep in mind that generally speaking there are not very many guys/gals that can hold the "bus" with less than 4 years seniority...at the moment there are only 16 pilots.

Speaking as a bottom 500 seniority list AC pilot I can assure you that it is not only senior guys/gals that supported TA1 ... Read and understand the material. Don't be caught up in the mob mentality of the past year that has been fueled with the help of forums and social media.

On the topic of Westjet north of 60, rumor has it that Westjet and Canadian North have recently signed an interline agreement. Actually Air Canada is the one who signed the interline agreement with Canadian North. Sort of funny how things come full circle. (as Canadian North is a Canadian Airlines ...

Re: ACPA Forum?????
We only have our own ACPA members to thank for having the forum shutdown. Names of people taking drafts/make-up were being posted (then phoned/harassed). I suggest its time for everyone to take a look in the mirror and think about the consequences of their actions. Sadly it's not the company that is...
