Re: ATPL Application process tips

So I've send my application and paid the fees on april 21st. Got my ATPL on June 11th.
Everything has been done in PDF format, I've never sent any paper at all and never walked in a TC office.

Re: WS/WO Layoff Mitigation Agreement

The program ends on August 29th.
But it has been under-utilized. So if the government can extend it it would be a huge relief to those still waiting to be recalled

Re: CEWS

Do you think the guy getting reduced 320 CA to 737 FO at 55 hours isn't taking a big pay cut? More like 50+%? I am talking about those 10 to 15% Top Captain. Everyone is taking big hits. Everyone has obligations. Are you sure that guy has been earning 200K for the last 10 years? I am still talking ...

Re: CEWS

We all got into this knowing the score. We cannot allow the WAGCON to permanently erode to temporarily save junior jobs. We already have a 30% pay cut due to our hours cut saving hundreds of jobs. Eventually we have to worry about the quality of the remaining jobs. I’m sure you know the difference ...

So you are saying the ACPA couldn’t negotiate a tiny 5% pay cut to avoid sacrificing 162 families ?

Re: CEWS

As far as I know-Yes. I’m on the Surplus list. I mean CEWS would be nice and all, but I understand AC’s point of view. I thought Management was just playing hard ball with the Government. Only a couple days left before they have to give us our notice... I wish they would hurry up and do it already....

In a far better position then Team Teal that's for sure.

If you are on LOA...start looking for work.

Re: Will Westjet survive?

WestJet (in its current form) will not survive. WestJet is faced with a massive payout to those who are set to be moved from LOA to layoff in September. A group layoff (50 or more) entitles those being laid off with 16 weeks notice or payment in lieu. The first batch (about 5000) will be laid off S...

We can also send the documents and the logbook in pdf, it will be processed the same way. That's what I did with Pacific region. Worked out pretty slick. From the time I sent in the application to payment processed was 22 days. Getting the sticker in the mail was another 7 days. Pretty quick ! I've...

but you'll be eliminating the bump-down language that was a sticking point with the PTA in the first place. You'll prevent anyone who hasn't officially moved to Encore from bumping, resulting in their layoffs, and allow the company to recall 100% of Encore pilots without bringing back a single West...

As long as there is cargo to move around the globe I'd rather think the 737 will take the hit. Definitely sounds like a good time to be at Encore. Good time to be at Encore? How so? Yea... How so? Because unless you are within the first half of people that got hire at Westjet, you'll probably end u...

Exactly.

It's the international growth (787's) of WJ that's probably going to take a hit for a couple of years. The low cost part is probably going to see good growth figures.

They can cut pretty much 10-15% of bottom of the list with no immediate training required because the majority are FO. And since they will probably be cutting routes and lower the number of flights for let say the yyz-yul turn and probably others « business routes » nobody will see any difference. O...

AC had $5.889b in cash, cash equivalents and short term investments at Dec 31 2019. At an average run rate of $47.893m a day, that's 123 days of cash available. WS had an average run rate of $13m a day with cash of about $1.6b, or coincidentally, 123 days of cash available. Both may have credit fac...

The only possible alternative to massive layoffs is job sharing combined with pay cuts. This is no a drill.
AKA temporary part time job.
I guess more people could get through this situation with a part time schedule than being laid off.

Is this timeline applicable to DEC as well?
Yes but it will most likely be a 3-6 months in right seat so you will have an initial course unless you already have a Q400 PPC.
