Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

I plan to go to BC this summer. I am hoping the risk will be quite low by then. Hospitals don't seem stretched so they are hopeful things can continue. It appears the isolating we are presently doing is working. And bonus, no need to upgrade seats because I am pretty sure we will be spread out once ...

Re: Terrible news for the Air Canada work force...

It is a terrible disease badly handled from the beginning, but we went with information available at the time. Once the vaccine comes, the deniers can go back under their rocks. I just happen to be somebody that is not comfortable killing people unnecessarily, even old coots - and young ones - I dis...

Re: The Return to Normal?

I disagree. Sure margins are small in airlines, but that doesn't mean it wasn't paying off for a lot of them. There are and have always been exceptions. Ward comes to mind. Then again he sold out and did OK I think. His family is still in the game. Things go up and things go down. Now if you want to...

Re: The Return to Normal?

I agree with those saying it is business business; it is not sustainable right now, and people have to move on. When it picks up, deal with that when it happens. Any employee is basically powerless; otherwise they would be managers, not employees. Why take all that on anyways? I want to go flying to...

Re: AeroCourse

i did the IFR refresher online course. I liked it. I was not aiming for an exam or anything. Certainly not as comprehensive as Harv's, but more "interesting" at the same time. Aerocourse are a good operation, and easy to reach. All these online courses aim for the same thing: passing your TC exams a...

I grew up with a majority of my area 1st or 2nd generation Brits. The one guy posting here would be the minority.... most would be unbearable. And I am 3rd gen myself. Somehow people used to get on their high horses if they were Brits, and I saw it in Scots too. In the UK they were nobodies, or to b...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

The media loves a story sure, but possible hospital problems as a result of this are very real. Even with beds, they will be short-staffed. This is the issue and what we are trying to avert. Just think tho how much money people are saving by not going to hockey games etc. A nice trip is in the cards...

Re: Aviation Degree Yes/No?

Hi Mr Airway,
You implied that I said (say that 5 times fast...) that you said... (this is silly), that because you worked for an airline, you did not know how hard it was to get into an airline. I did not say, or mean to imply, that. Now, who is on first?

Re: Aviation Degree Yes/No?

I do not recall ever saying that it was an easy road to become an airline pilot. I know the years of heartache that precede success in almost anything. This business is still cannibalistic, regardless of what anybody can say to try to deny that. In fact, it is rarely spoken of at all. This fellow wi...

Re: Aviation Degree Yes/No?

Well that does not make my comment less true. An airline person can patiently wait these things out, as many have done in the past, but somebody with no experience whatsoever is just going to be at a disadvantage. The caveat is that frustration can set in, when you get trained and there is no job on...

Re: Aviation Degree Yes/No?

This is a cannibalistic industry. Anybody who tells you to wait before training doesn't want you to compete with them when things pick up. You have plenty of education - at least enough to attract attention from anywhere worthwhile. Go flying. ASAP. You will never have enough hours, so the more you ...

Re: Coronavirus Numbers

It is truly hard to believe some people on here are able to get away with saying. And it is not a debate, just as we know washing your hands reduces your chances of catching something. It is scientific fact, based on empiricism, not some random thoughts based on peoples' own imaginations. Saying it ...

It should be the cost of doing business, just like every other business. The difference is there are not thousands of young, hungry "pilots in waiting" in other businesses.

Transport Canada can exclude you from a Cat 1 Medical for taking all sorts of medications. This is no different. It will likely just go on the list of banned meds.

I am not a crook! Sadly for nowadays, people cared about that sort of thing then. Now they just twist everything around to suit their agenda.
