Where is the parody Mike these days? It seems like a great time for a pithy, and hilarious post.

Re: AME strike: the truth

Best article I have read in a while: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/commentary/article-westjet-mechanics-strike-delays/ Need to remember that it’s 2 years of technical school, not a University Diploma or an MBA here. Followed by 4 years of apprenticeship. 4 years?!!?! You must be a WestJe...

Re: TA Passed

Here is the reason you should have fixed f/o rates when you had the chance. There is now a cadet program. How long will those guys PAY the airline to work for them while they are stuck on the crappy f/o scale. Shame on the people who said "this is only a three year deal", "people upgrade immediately...

Does that mean upgrades are still happening for people with less than 2 years in property? That sounds like slow upgrade times. Won't people be stuck on that first officer scale which was not improved?

Re: Smaller Westjet vs Pay Pilots

Why view everything as a binary problem. Either deal, or strike. Look at the American carriers we hope to replicate and see they will go years beyond with no deal to get a good one. In the meantime at the end of conciliation we can spray everyday, taxi with the APU running, stop all overtime, cause ...

Re: bumping first class passengers for deadhead crew

How do you foresee the gotcha journalism going on that story from the perspective of ACPA. -is it true pilots will bump paying passengers -no we are entitled to a seat, it shouldn't be sold, if it is then that person will need to be reaccomdated. -do you think that practice is right? -we don't see t...

Would you be irate at a rental car agency who doesn't have a car for you when you show up to the counter? Who do you get mad at the person at the desk, or the company whose booking allowed that to happen? We have no control over how the company decides to book off the seats for us. We do not create ...

Aerobod I value a good counterpoint, or devil's advocate argument but I will have to disagree with most of what you are saying. The idea you have about what can be afforded is paramount why Canadian pilots are getting paid peanuts compared to other countries. Our raise is untenable to the company. A...

Just a quick question about Swoop pay rates that you are quoting... Any idea how or why a sub par conditions happened at swoop? Listen you can spin yarn all you want but you took sick days away, your F/O scale is not enough, and you increased how much people need to work. It's selfish for people to...

Your friend is badly misinformed. I heard from a friend in India that Flair will soon be flying single pilot operations with only FOs and they won’t need any captains! I'm not sure why you think that using sarcasm is a cleaver way to respond to information. You yourself have already confirmed that ...

Nope. You want pay to go up? Let the company suffer until they decide to bring out the cheque book. Want a retired guy back. Itll be for whatever they can work out. If the union ( rightfully defends YOS ) then the offer will be year 1 pay. I hope the end result is no one returns... Which leads the c...

Re: What does Air Canada want to see on a resume

Do yourself a favor and go to WestJet instead. The reason I say that is quality of life counts for something. At Air Canada we do not seem to place value on that in any regard. For example your first year at Air Canada you have zero vacation. After working a full year you get 2 weeks plus 9 stat day...

Hydrogen powered cars were invented in the 80's... Yet we have been using gas... Why? Infrastructure constraints, development costs, a host of barriers beyond the actual tech for the car. Planes are the same. Do we currently have the ability to fully automate a plane... Yes... The costs of building,...

Automation is a threat to many aspects of our lives. Cost is the main stop gate for progress. If it takes 20,000,000 man hours, and 2 billion dollars to write the software, and test, then price the technology what would you need to charge to make a return on that investment? If an automated plane c...

Thank god ACPA supports our industry by standing by mandatory vaccines. How stupid would it be if they opposed the one thing helping our industry recover. All you anti vaxxers need to give your head a shake. And im extremely happy the company has taken this position. Keep in mind they did a survey ...

Fyi for those interested... The ACPA app has message feature in it. So let's say hypothetically if you easily wanted to touch base with a MEC member you can open the app, go to messages, click the plus button, hit the magnifying glass and search a members name. It's super quick, and easy to ask ques...

It's crazy. Rouge had 77.5 hours guarantee every month.. aka 930 yearly guarantee. Now they have... 900 big win! If the company knew rouge was too expensive and wanted mainline rates what did we get? 300 vacancies...not attached to anything.... Well that's a mute point considering vacation buy back ...

As long as the pilots put together a great contract we all will benefit from the competition. Interesting choice of a...
