Re: Tools?

take advantage of the snap on discount that you will get from school. most aircraft are in imperial so your metric stuff from cars will not work. snap on: 1/4 drive shallow and deep sockets as well as universal/swivel sockets. all 12 point 1/4 drive extensions with the knurled bit on them offset wre...

Re: Central Mountain Air weekly job ad...

Three years ago the amount of CYYC maintenance people we had working the floor between the two shifts was 34. Now with a ton more airplanes they are down to 12. They are being asked to do more with less. Now you may think that the company was proactive and offering something to acknowledge the hard...

Re: Air North ad...

Wow MZUNGO - do you just like to complain to for the sake of complaining? A little research on your part easily finds the answers. As mentioned above - they only have one base - YYC and their fleet is close to 50 aircraft of all shapes and sizes. I agree the shift seems odd, but from what I know - ...

Re: Air North ad...

A perfect example of what I was talking about. no aircraft type, no location, and no mention of compensation. not super crazy about the shift either. you are going to spend 2 of those 6 days off catching up on sleep. Re: Air North ad...

well at least he is honest. I find the job ads written by the DOM are the most informative. usually its "looking for an AME Dash-8 endorsed in YUL. $45hr." pretty much all the information you usually need. when HR writes an ad its 4 paragraphs of gobbledygook without the aircraft type or what airpor...

cars question

ok I need help with a disagreement between Myself and a coworker. when making a correction on a logpage you are supposed to draw a single line through the item and write "eie" on it and initial. where in CARS does it specify this? my Coworker says it also needs to be dated. I say no. so of course we...

Re: Atlas Air 767

The CA was pulling so hard against the FO that he sheared the pins on the stick and at that point had no control. this is unlikely. the 767 has a cam type override which requires 25 pounds of force to disengage one column from the other. also the same thing at the tail. if the FO was holding full f...

Re: Following the marshaller guarantees nothing

not the first time, wont be the last. I watched a Greyhound 727 get marshalled into the back of a fuel truck many moons ago. the wing walker was VERY clearly trying to get the marshallers attention, but he was diligently keeping eye contact with the pilot. Basic marshalling as taught to me by the Mi...

as someone who has had the enviable task of dumping the cart after a few lavs have been serviced, I can assure you that what comes out is very blue. I havent seen any of the pictures so I cant make much of a guess as to what happened. but you would normally need 2 separate items to fail/not secured....

Re: contact cleaner

if the contacts are green and completely corroded they should be replaced. if we are talking about a little tarnish on the pins then LPS contact cleaner and a tiny piece of scotch brite will give them another year or so. there is a product called ACF-50 that is a corrosion preventive and a contact e...

Re: AC looking for AME's

word around the campfire is that AC is going to need 40-60 people in YVR AFTER everyone transfers from YUL/YYZ. accuracy of said scuttlebutt is up for debate. however I know for a fact there is a massive shortage of experienced AME's in the lower mainland, AC hiring a bunch will not help the situati...

I see at least 1 a week at YVR. last summer I watched JAL go around TWICE. I'm not sure if they are even reported.
