all one needs to remember is the humbolt broncos hockey bus crash. driver. got 8yrs in prison. in a precedent setting case for 16 counts of negligent homicide causing death. there was. just a moment of inattention. no malicious intent. that case will be use used as a barometer for future cases incl...

I really hope you aren't implying that pilots salary will make or break an airline.

The Thomas Cook pilots weren't happy with their wages either. Now the company is dead so they won't have to worry about a raise anymore.

+1 I work for the sister company and while it may be “one country, two systems” the cheques still come from the same place. I’ll share my insights. Like at every other place I’ve worked... I’ve never had a safety decision questioned. I’ve been stranded in the middle of nowhere with a broken airplan...

Re: Thomas Cook on the edge of bankrupcy

Calling people "selfish scum People who scheme to pocket 10s of millions ( CEOs etc) while the average employee is asked to do more with less qualifies as "selfish scum" to me A CEO who leaves thousands of passengers stranded AFTER they have paid their fares in trust is scum because their only inte...

Re: Thomas Cook on the edge of bankrupcy

Calin just didn't want WestJet to buy Transat. AC couldn't care less about Transat, they are going down the drain in 5 years tops if they are not bought. The deal may be approved by share holders, but if the government gets their filthy hands on the deal it's screwed. If they ask ac to drop slots i...

Spoken like a true communist activist. When I go to canadian tire for maintenance, do I pay in advance? When I buy an item off the shelf, you can be assured it is in my hands when i exchange it for $$$. Defective part? return it! Poor maintenance, return it to get it done right ! We have laws and c...

Re: Thomas Cook on the edge of bankrupcy

Interesting angle. Do you think Air Transat would go buying airplanes when AC doesn't own them yet? What would they do with those extra planes if the transaction didn't go through? It's not like AC needs any more 321's. Air Transat certainly doesn't need narrow body assets right now. They're losing...

Re: Thomas Cook on the edge of bankrupcy

I'm sure there are emergency meetings going on right now at AC and Transat. I'd bet that those 320's (if they're any good) might be purchased outright by Transat with AC capital just to prevent route disruptions. UK creditors cant do much quickly if they stay under the Canadian sphere of influence....

ALL the aviation regulatory agencies across the globe need to withhold ample amounts of $ in trust for just a situation because the CEOs are selfish scum and don't give a damn about stranded customers and foreplanning !!

Re: DOH merge.

It's considered a Wind Fall because it can only happen once. Once the asset is sold it no longer creates revenue . Shares are considered as equity and not profit of loss for the company , however to the individual shareholder it would be considered a wind fall. Transat is not an airline, its a Tour...

Wouldn’t it be a win win for Transat if AC doesn’t acquire Transat? No need to worry about seniority if merger is denied. September Is there a date set yet? That makes it hard to plan for the big upcoming equipment bid at AC. For the company and the pilots. I don't know if it's better to assume it's going to pass or not. Everyone seems so sure it will despite major shareholders being against it and the other higher of...
