Re: Failed PPL Flight Test twice
Some good feedback here already. I'd like to add that my PPL journey did not go as smoothly as I imagined either. I had 0 guidance from anyone and the few flights I did leading up to my solo were based off feedback that I had good hands and feet and radio work. Little did I know that there was a PPL...

Re: What kind of seniority does it take to have good money & schedule at AC?
How is QofL looking for someone who joins AC now and hopes for a YUL base? How long is reserve and will commuting to base be a realistic career path as opposed to living in base for another airline?

Re: What kind of seniority does it take to have good money & schedule at AC?
Delta pilots get 15/16 GDO's and make bank. No excuse for AC pilots to be treated how they are. Paying your dues doesn't mean being handcuffed to a below average salary and lifestyle stopping most from moving on with life and starting a family or buying a home...

Re: Announcement Dec 17
Anyone care to give a summary for the relevant content for the pilots? Imagine most people won’t be digging through the presentation or know what to make of everything. Not much for pilots other than growth and expansion. Just a reminder of how big AC is and will become. Exciting growth and future ...

Re: Commuting
What's the best fleet as a commuter to be on? Unwilling to move to one of the major 3 cities due to high cost of living and no family support. Is it better to be able to drive to YUL within 2.5 hrs or fly to YYZ as a commuter?

Re: Dash FO to captain upgrade time
IMHO, the E2 shouldn't be the FO's first ever Captain job. If the pilot is skilled, hard working and responsible then why not? There are countless pilots at AC who's first upgrade is on an A220 or other narrowbody. The rest of the world start F/O's off on narrowbodies at 250 hrs and as they progres...

Re: Converting Canadian ATPL to Australia
Currently flying in Australia for my 3rd summer season. Aerial application. Every year we come down on backpacker visas and then just get a certificate of validation on our license, which is a pretty simple process. To convert I believe there are 2 written examinations and a flight test. Casa is mu...

Re: Are New E2 FOs Screwed?
I suppose they could require a bunch of transport category pic for e2 captain. Basically forcing people to go q400 captain for a bit first. On the flip side of that coin, they also might as well give every e2 FO a helping hand with their AC application. As discussed in the other thread , it's a pay...

Converting Canadian ATPL to Australia
Has anyone recently converted their ATPL to CASA in Australia? From information I have gathered no airline will sponsor you and the only way to be eligible for an application is to obtain a work permit or right to live in Australia. Apart from the challenges of that, how is the process in 2024 of co...

Re: Air Sprint Questions
A few questions: 1. How often do you get called in reserve approx? 2. Any plans to increase the pay scale? 145k for Embraer captain seems low compared to industry standards. 3. How long is the average layover? 4. Are pilot headsets provided? 5. Are people making this a career destination? With hiri...

Re: Pro's and Con's of Porter
I think the important thing to note here is that the majority of the commenters have been on property at Porter for a max of 2 years. For whatever reasons they moved to porter, it is a likely guarantee that they were chasing money. One thing you will not find on this thread are Porter pilots that h...

Re: Pro's and Con's of Porter
From the E2 side of things my observations thus far to add to the replies above. PROS: 1. People and work culture. In general the people you work with, trainers and most of management are wonderful and the environment tends to be positive. Going to work is great especially if you know you have a goo...

Re: Nav Can Whisky Tango Fox over
Flow in and out of YYZ or YVR every other day. Throw in a TCU around those airports and you're done. Absolutely ridiculous and we don't have nearly as many aircraft coming in as US major airports. CYTZ tower closure almost daily. Meanwhile in Florida you have multiple cells up 60,000 ft and ATC help...

Re: Is it that bad at AC for pilots? I mean food stamp bad!
At Qantas for comparison, they make $130k CAD starting on the 737. Australia has a strikingly similar economy with a relatively small population spread out over long distances. Our dollars are very close in valuation. No reason we can’t reach parity when AC has operating margins higher than all of ...

Multi-crew and turbine time are more valuable in a time builder operation IMO. The PC-12 is amazing to fly and gain the necessary experience to move onto a light jet or regional.

Agreed with a refresh needed for the paint. At minimum large billboard titles or some sort of elements fading onto the fuselage from the tail like from your concepts. Not a bad one you made although I would have continued with navy blue.

Re: Porter vs AC
I'm under 30 and feel the pressure of applying to AC as well. That being said, QOL is what I'm after and it sounds like at AC that's almost guaranteed NOT to happen. Hopefully the new contract sorts things out, but even with major changes being junior will most likely mean it would still take years ...

Anyone have any insider knowledge on base transfers timeline? I heard only 6 F/O spots opened for YOW in June which makes me wonder how long a base transfer would take as a newcomer onto the E2.

Re: Transat or Porter?
All accurate opinions. It comes down to what you want. If you're DEC eligible you can make much more at Porter right off the hop, but you'll work a lot more- for some that doesn't matter. It's the personal preference of work to live vs live to work. There are many places where you can make more $$ ...

Hi there, I thought I’d give my two cents as a person who is on the outside looking in as I am a pilot for wj. I’ve flown in the back on both, and they each have a great product, but for a career, I’d go towards Transat. -Both have bases in yyz and you’ll be able to hold yyz either right away or sh...

Thanks a lot for the tips. I was told that Encore and Jazz will gladly take me. Re: Transat or Porter?
Good morning, I'm currently a corporate pilot and looking to jump to the airlines. Home based with my employer now but basically away up to 16 days a month. I'm torn between an F/O position on Porter's E2 or Air Transat's A321/A330 if offered a position. Both options are appealing to me with each ha...
